16. The impact of wind power variability on the least-cost dispatch of units in the electricity generation system
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the dynamics of electricity generation systems that involve high levels of wind power. Methods to account for wind power variability in electricity-dispatch models are explored, and the impact of wind power variability on the optimal output of the generation units, so as to meet the system load with the lowest possible cost (economic dispatch), is analyzed for several systems, for both regional and European cases. 17. Engine Thermal Management in Heavy Duty Vehicles
Sammanfattning : Future regulations on noise and exhaust emissions have a large impact on heavy duty engine installations. Cooled EGR is used for NOx abatement. Better sealed engine encapsulations are used to meet new noise regulations. Engine thermal management is therefore becoming an increasingly important discipline. LÄS MER
18. Benefits of Coordinating Plug-In Electric Vehicles in Electric Power Systems : Through Market Prices and Use-of-System Network Charges
Sammanfattning : Both electric power systems and the transportation sector are essential constituents to modern life, enhancing social welfare, enabling economic prosperity and ultimately providing well-being to the people. However, to mitigate adverse climatological effects of emitting greenhouse gases, a rigorous de-carbonization of both industries has been set on the political agenda in many parts of the world. 19. On Energy Management Strategies for Hybrid Electric Vehicles
Sammanfattning : Hybrid electric vehicles are characterized by the existence of an electric energy buffer in the powertrain. Compared to a conventional vehicle the existence of the buffer means an extra degree of freedom in the powertrain. LÄS MER
20. Maximizing the integration of wind power in distribution system
Sammanfattning : The global installed capacity of wind power has shown a significant growth, from just 24 GW in 2001 to 283 GW in 2012. This trend is expected to continue for some years to come. Hence a significant amount of wind power needs to be connected to the electric power system. LÄS MER
