1. Simulation and Characterization of Silicon Carbide Power Bipolar Junction Transistors
Sammanfattning : The superior characteristics of silicon carbide, compared with silicon, have suggested considering this material for the next generation of power semiconductor devices. Among the different power switches, the bipolar junction transistor (BJT) can provide a very low forward voltage drop, a high current capability and a fast switching speed. LÄS MER
2. Diode-pumped Nd : YAG lasers for generation of blue light by frequency doubling
Sammanfattning : Quasi-three-level lasers in neodymium-doped crystals such asNd:YAG, Nd:YLF and Nd:YVO4have received a great deal of interest becausethey allow generation of blue light by frequency doubling. Forsolid-state blue laser sources, there exist numerousapplications as in high-density optical data storage, colourdisplays, submarine communication and biologicalapplications. LÄS MER

4. SiC Varactors for Dynamic Load Modulation of Microwave Power Amplifiers
Sammanfattning : The rapid consumer adoption of mobile services is leading to an exponential growth in wireless data traffic. In order to accommodate more concurrent high data-rate users, the required complexity of transmitting radio base station (RBS) power amplifiers (PAs) is increasing. LÄS MER
5. On Gate Drivers for MOS-Controlled Power Devices and dv-dt Filters for Train Traction Converters
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, low-loss gate-drive solutions and a proposed dv/dt-filter have been investigated with focus on train traction converters with dv/dt constraints.By using the silicon carbide (SiC) junction field-effect transistor (JFET), the switching losses can be significantly reduced compared to the commonly used insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), but complex gate-driver solutions are required for high utilization in terms of loss reduction.
