  1. 16. Supervisory control of complex propulsion subsystems

    Författare :Dhinesh Vilwanathan Velmurugan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Look-ahead control; engine control; exhaust after-treatment; supervisory control;

    Sammanfattning : Modern gasoline and diesel combustion engines are equipped with several subsystems with the goal to reduce fuel consumption and pollutant exhaust emissions. Subsystem synergies could be harnessed using the supervisory control approach. Look-ahead information can be used to potentially optimise power-train control for real time implementation. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Performance Quantification of Interarea Oscillation Damping Using HVDC

    Författare :Joakim Björk; Karl H. Johansson; Lennart Harnefors; Robin Preece; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HVDC transmission control; interarea oscillations; power oscillation damping; small-signal stability; frequency control; controllability; MIMO control; decoupling control; multivariable interaction; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : With the transition towards renewable energy, and the deregulation of the electricity market, generation patterns and grid topology are changing. These changes increase the need for transfer capacity. One limiting factor, which sometimes leads to underutilization of the transmission grid, is interarea oscillations. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Extremum Seeking Control : Stability, Accuracy, and Applications

    Författare :Khalid Atta; Ying Tan; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Reglerteknik; Control Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : In many applications, there is a variable that indicates the overall performance and that must be maximized, such as the output of a hydro power turbine or a mineral processing plant, or that must be minimized, such as CO2 emissions or the consumption of resources. Extremization of this variable (maximization or minimization) through adjusting the influencing manipulated variables is occasionally required without prior knowledge of the optimal values of the manipulated variables or of the optimized variable. 4. 19. On performance limitations of large-scale networks with distributed feedback control

    Författare :Emma Tegling; Henrik Sandberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Networked control systems; microgrids; platooning; vehicular formation; multi-agent systems; H2 norms; fundamental limitations; consensus; Distributed control; large-scale networks; oscillator networks; power networks; power system dynamics; system performance; spatially invariant systems; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : We address the question of performance of large-scale networks with distributed feedback control. We consider networked dynamical systems with single and double integrator dynamics, subject to distributed disturbances. We focus on two types of problems. First, we consider problems modeled over regular lattice structures. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Look-ahead control for fuel-efficient and safe heavy-duty vehicle platooning

    Författare :Valerio Turri; Karl H. Johansson; Petros Ioannou; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; platoon; platooning; optimization; optimal control; model predictive control; automatic control; fuel efficiency; intelligent transport systems; automated driving; cooperative; dynamic programming; trucks; heavy-duty vehicles; safe platooning; fuel-efficient platooning; distributed model predictive control; MPC; vehicle-following; pulse and glide; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The operation of heavy-duty vehicles at small inter-vehicular distances, known as platoons, lowers the aerodynamic drag and, therefore, reduces fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Tests conducted on flat roads have shown the potential of platooning to reduce the fuel consumption of about 10%. LÄS MER
