  1. 6. Specification and potency of human neural stem cells for clinical transplantation

    Författare :Per Henrik Vincent; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Neural stem cells hold promise for future treatment of spinal cord injury. Various aspects regarding cell fate specification, manufacturing and monitoring, with implications for clinical applications of these cells, are discussed herein. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Allergenic Oxidation Products from Fragrance Terpenes. Chemical Analysis and Determination of Sensitizing Potency

    Författare :Johanna Rudbäck; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Autoxidation; Contact allergy; Essential oils; Fragrances; Hydroperoxides; Ionization techniques; Mass spectrometry; Prehapten; Sensitization; Skin; Structure-activity relationships; Terpenes;

    Sammanfattning : The ubiquitous presence of fragrance compounds in consumer products has resulted in a high frequency of contact allergy to fragrances in the population. For prevention purposes and according to EU regulations, cosmetics must be labeled when containing the most prominent fragrance allergens in concentrations exceeding 0. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Automation, hyphenation and multidimensional chromatography for PAH analysis : Analytical techniques to simplify sample complexity

    Författare :Hwanmi Lim; Roger Westerholm; Christoffer Bergvall; Stephen Wise; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon; PAH; benzo[a]pyrene; B[a]P; carcinogenicity; cancer risk assessment; complex matrix; automation; hyphenation; multidimensional chromatography; two-dimensional; method translation; online fractionation; benz[j]aceanthrylene; B[j]A; relative potency factor; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : One group of organic environmental pollutants which are potentially hazardous to human health is polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). These compounds consist of two or more benzene rings in their structure among which benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P) is classified as a human carcinogen. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Amine oxidases in dental pulp : a study with special regard to a semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase with catalytic potency towards serotonin

    Författare :Astrid Norqvist-Sjöberg; Lars Oreland; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The amine oxidizing capacity of piglet dental pulp tissue has been investigated. At least six separate enzyme activities could be distinguished:- a soluble semicarbazide-sensitive (SSAO) activity towards benzylamine, most likely to be derived from the content of blood plasma within the pulp tissue;- a soluble pulp tissue SSAO activity with most properties in common with the plasma enzyme, however with great efficiency not only regarding benzylamine but also tryptamine;- a tissue bound SSAO activity with activity towards benzylamine, tryptamine, tyramine and ß-phenylethylamine;- a tissue bound semicarbazide-sensitive activity towards serotonin (SSA0-5HT) (a combination of properties never reported before);- a mitochondrially bound and clorgyline-sensitive monoamine oxidase-A (MAO-A) activity with activity towards serotonin;- a mitochondrially bound and deprenyl-sensitive MAO-B activity with activity towards e. 5. 10. Regulation of non-responsiveness and death in cytotoxic T cells by the agonistic potency of MHC : peptide ligands

    Författare :Michael Uhlin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :CD8 T cells; APL; CTLs; non-responsiveness; AICD; lck; lipid rafts; partial agonism; TCR activation.;

    Sammanfattning : CD8+ T lymphocytes are important for immunological control of infections and tumors. The key interaction required to initiate the process of T cell activation is the engagement of the T cell receptor (TCR) with a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I/peptide complex on an antigen presenting cell (APC).
