  1. 16. Studies of leukotriene C4 synthase expression and regulation in chronic myeloid leukaemia

    Författare :Cecilia Roos; Susanne Tornhamre; Anita Sjölander; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; leukotriene C4 synthase; chronic myeloid leukaemia; p210 BCR-ABL; myelopoiesis; imatinib mesylate; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Biomedical Sciences; Biomedicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Leukotriene (LT) C4 is generated through conjugation of LTA4 with glutathione by the actions of leukotriene C4 synthase (LTC4S). This biologically potent mediator of asthma and inflammation has also been suggested to play a regulatory role in human myelopoiesis and is overproduced by blood and bone marrow cells from patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML). 2. 17. Regulatory networks of c-di-GMP signalling involved in biofilm formation, motility and host pathogen interactions in Salmonella typhimurium

    Författare :Irfan Ahmad; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Adaptation to altered environmental conditions is one of the fundamental bacterial characteristics. The ubiquitous second messenger c-di-GMP plays a key role to adopt bacterial behaviour. Transition from motility to sessility and from acute infection to chronic infection is regulated by c-di-GMP signalling in many bacteria. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Role and therapeutic potential of non-coding RNAs in vascular remodeling and atherosclerotic plaque formation

    Författare :Suzanne M Eken; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis and its clinical sequelae remain a world leading cause of disease and death, despite recent advances in primary and secondary prevention. The silently progressive character of the disease, in combination with the influence of individual patient characteristics, makes acute events difficult to predict and prevent. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Isolation and functional characterization of Hrp65-binding proteins in Chironomus tentans

    Författare :Eva Kiesler; Neus Visa; Benjamin Blencowe; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gene expression; RNA-binding proteins; mRNA biogenesis; nuclear structure; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : It is well-established that the organization of nuclear components influences gene expression processes, yet little is known about the mechanisms that contribute to the spatial co-ordination of nuclear activities. The salivary gland cells of Chironomus tentans provide a suitable model system for studying gene expression in situ, as they allow for direct visualization of the synthesis, processing and export of a specific protein-coding transcript, the Balbiani ring (BR) pre-mRNA, in a nuclear environment in which chromatin and non-chromatin structures can easily be distinguished. 5. 20. Gene regulatory mechanisms in the oligodendrocyte lineage in development and disease

    Författare :Mandy Meijer; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Oligodendrocytes are the myelinating cells of the central nervous system (CNS). They contribute to the neuronal network through the insulation of neuronal axons, facilitating communication between neurons and providing metabolic support. LÄS MER
