  1. 16. Genetic Aspects of Sexual Selection and Mate Choice in Salmonids

    Författare :Lars Forsberg; Mats Grahn; Jacob Höglund; Claus Wedekind; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; mate choice; Mhc; Major histocompatibility complex; class IIB; disassortative; assortative; microsatellite; outbreeding; supportive breeding; population; population genetics; Biologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : The long-term genetic consequences of supportive breeding programs are not well understood. Nevertheless, stocking populations with hatchery-produced fish to compensate for losses of natural production are common practice, for example after constructions of hydroelectric power dams. 2. 17. Molecular population genetics of inducible defense genes in Populus tremula

    Författare :Carolina Bernhardsson; Stefan Jansson; Santiago González-Martinez; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Populus; herbivore defense; adaptation; population genetics; population structure; association mapping; complex traits; evolutionär genetik; evolutionary genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Plant-herbivore interactions are among the most common of ecological interactions. It is therefore not surprising that plants have evolved multiple mechanisms to defend themselves, using both constitutive chemical and physical barriers and by induced responses which are only expressed after herbivory has occurred. 3. 18. Population genetic studies of psoriasis

    Författare :Annica Inerot; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; psoriasis; population genetics; age of onset; family studies; associated diseases; clinical examination; arthritis; HLA-Cw6;

    Sammanfattning : Psoriasis is a genetically determined, common skin disease affecting about 3 % of the population. The inheritance pattern has earlier been unclear. In collaboration with the Swedish Psoriasis Association, we have collected information on the occurrence of psoriasis in the families of 11,366 members of the Association. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Population size, viability and genetic diversity in the orchid Gymnadenia conopsea

    Författare :Linus Söderquist; Nina Sletvold; Sophie Karrenberg; Hans Jacquemyn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; demography; extinction probability; genetic diversity; genetic rescue; genetic structure; Gymnadenia conopsea; orchid conservation; population viability; population size; Biology with specialization in Ecological Botany; Biologi med inriktning mot ekologisk botanik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I combined controlled crosses with genetic and demographic data to examine how a main conservation value indicator, population size, was associated with estimates of population viability. I focused on the still common, but decreasing, perennial orchid Gymnadenia conopsea at two spatial scales—locally on the island Öland, in SE Sweden, and regionally across Scandinavia. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Prognostic factors, treatment and outcome in adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia : Population-based studies in Sweden

    Författare :Piotr Kozlowski; Helene Hallböök; Maria Åström; Anita W. Rijneveld; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia; adult; chemotherapy; prognosis; population-based; Onkologi; Oncology;

    Sammanfattning : Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) has poor prognosis in older/elderly adults and in high-risk/relapsed disease. Recommended treatment of ALL was evaluated (study I-IV). Data was obtained from the Swedish Acute Leukemia registries and from patient records.I. LÄS MER
