  1. 1. A Data-Rich World : Population‐based registers in healthcare research

    Författare :Ann-Britt Wiréhn; John Carstensen; Carl Johan Östgren; Anneli Ivarsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chronic disease; demographic factors; healthcare costs; hospitalization; incidence; registers; primary healthcare; prevalence; Epidemiology; Epidemiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Advances and integration of information and communication technologies into healthcare systems offer new opportunities to improve public health worldwide. Sammanfattning : The incidence of cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM) is steadily increasing. Most of the patients have thin CMM with a good prognosis and a 5-year survival of about 90%. The prognosis is highly related to tumour thickness and clinical stage at diagnosis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Population-based studies in Myelodysplastic syndromes : Prognostic scores, socioeconomic status, and therapy-related disease

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to expand the epidemiological knowledge of the haematological malignancy MDS and the related condition chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML). Using nationwide registers, the papers in this thesis address aspects of prognostication, comorbidity, socioeconomic status, and therapy-related disease, using a population-based approach. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Truncation and missing family links in population-based registers

    Författare :Monica Leu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Left-trunction; Swedish Cancer Registry; MultiGeneration Register; family history; misclassification; simulation; Poplab;

    Sammanfattning : Studies of familial aggregation of disease routinely use linked population registers to construct retrospective cohorts. Although such resources have provided numerous estimates of familial risk, little is known regarding the sensitivity of the estimates to assumed disease models and incompleteness of the data, such as truncation and/or missing family links.
