13. Civil Resistance in the Shadow of War : Explaining popular mobilization against dams in Myanmar
Sammanfattning : Why do some conflict-affected communities collectively resist dam-building while others do not? State-backed development projects such as hydropower dams have been the subject of societal resistance in countries around the world. In armed conflict areas, local populations who organize nonviolent resistance through collective action against these high-impact projects face additional challenges, such as being targeted for violence and coercion by the authorities. Sammanfattning : The object of this thesis is a Swedish religious reform movement that, from mid nineteenth century to early twentieth century, undertook social work intended to ‘rescue’ female prostitutes. Sammanfattning : This thesis is a study of landownership that took place in Scania in southern Sweden in the 1860s. Basically it was a conflict between an alliance of tenant farmers and rural poor against estate owners in a time of agrarian change, a time characterized by mass evections of tenants and increasing proletarization.
