  1. 1. Functionalization of Synthetic Polymers for Membrane Bioreactors

    Författare :Hamidreza Barghi; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bioreactor; Functionalization; Hydrophilic; Membrane; Polyamide 46; Synthetic polymer; Resursåtervinning; Resursåtervinning; Resource Recovery;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane bioreactors (MBRs) show great promise for productivity improvement and energy conservation in conventional bioprocesses for wastewater reclamation. In order to attain high productivity in a bioprocess, it is crucial to retain the microorganisms in the bioreactors by preventing wash out. LÄS MER

    Författare :Erfan Oliaei; Lars Berglund; Tom S. C. Lindström; Fredrik Berthold; ‪Maria Soledad Peresin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : All-lignocellulose composites, meaning densified fiber or fibril materials without added binder, show interesting mechanical properties and can be eco-friendly. Composites based on hot-pressed microfibrillated lignocellulose (MFLC) and lignocellulosic wood fiber (WF) reinforcements are compared with respect to processing, structure, mechanical properties, and eco-indicators. 3. 3. Design of new biodegradable polymer matrices for controlled drug delivery

    Författare :Ulrica Edlund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Conventional drug administration technologies display poorcontrollability, and lead to high plasma concentrations andshort duration times, which frequently lead to adverse effects.Controlled release technology aims at predictable andreproducible delivery of an active substance over an extendedperiod of time, yielding optimal response and prolongedefficiency, and thus offering considerable improvement of manytreatments. 4. 4. Porous polymeric materials for chromatography : Synthesis, functionalization and characterization

    Författare :Emil Byström; Knut Irgum; Camilla Viklund; Solomon Tesfalidet; Klaus K Unger; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; porous polymer monolith; pore size distribution; nitrogen sorptiometry; mercury intrusion porosimetry; scanning and transmission electron microscopy; plasma functionalization; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Separation methods; Separationsmetoder; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Separation science is heavily reliant on materials to fulfill ever more complicated demands raised by other areas of science, notably the rapidly expanding molecular biosciences and environmental monitoring. The key to successful separations lies in a combination of physical properties and surface chemistry of stationary phases used in liquid chromatographic separation, and this thesis address both aspects of novel separation materials.
