16. Effects of polyelectrolyte conformation, charge density and ion specificity in polyelectrolyte and polyelectrolyte-drug interaction
Sammanfattning : The central theme is how the structural characteristics of sulphated polyelectrolytes and theirinteraction with counter- and coions determine the degree of polyelectrolyte self-association (gelformation), interaction with oppositely charged polyelectrolyte and polyelectrolyte-amphiphilic druginteraction in protolytic solvent medium. Such knowledge is essential for understanding and regulatingthe interaction between polyelectrolytes as well as between polyelectrolytes and a drug substance in apharmaceutical formulation and for its fate in the human organism. 17. On the interactions in cellulose systems : surface forces and adsorption
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the interactions in cellulose systems havebeen studied with emphasis on surface forces and adsorptionphenomenon. The study was limited to surfaces and polymers ofinterest for papermaking. LÄS MER
18. Electrolyte-Gated Organic Thin-Film Transistors
Sammanfattning : There has been a remarkable progress in the development of organic electronic materials since the discovery of conducting polymers more than three decades ago. Many of these materials can be processed from solution, in the form as inks. LÄS MER
19. Properties of Protein and Polymer Systems
Sammanfattning : Interactions of proteins with other proteins, with polymers and with surfaces are of great practical importance within for instance protein purification, drug delivery, and food technology. The aim of this work is to increase the understanding of protein-protein, protein-polyelectrolyte, and protein-surface interactions, particularly concerning the role of electrostatic interactions in these systems. 20. Phase Equilibria and Structures of Oppositely Charged Polymers and Surfactants in Water
Sammanfattning : A new approach to the study of aqueous mixtures of oppositely charged polymers and surfactants has been introduced. Pure polyion-surfactant ion complex salts have been synthesized and used as the point of departure. The elimination of the simple ions reduces the number of components in the mixtures, thus greatly simplifying the system. LÄS MER
