  1. 11. Compound-specific stable chlorine isotope analysis : A versatile tool for investigating biochemical and geochemical processes of organochlorine substances

    Författare :Henry Holmstrand; Per Andersson; Örjan Gustafsson; Neil Sturchio; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; compound-specific chlorine isotope analysis; chlorinated organic compounds; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : Chlorinated organic compounds (OCls) from anthropogenic sources are generally considered to be a class of chemicals with high potential for ecotoxicity, including infamous substances such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB), dichloro-dibenzo-trichloroethane (DDT) and polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD). OCls are also produced naturally, sometimes at the same order of magnitude as anthropogenic compounds. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The recent developments and improvements of instrumental methods for the analyses of the environmental contaminants, especially the persistent organic pollutants (POPs), have made it possible to detect and quantify these at very low concentrations in environmental and biotic matrices.The main objective of this thesis is to demonstrate the capability of the atmospheric pressure chemical ionization technique (APCI), using gas chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry for the determination of a wide range of environmental contaminants, including the POPs regulated by Stockholm Convention, such as polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), but also the derivates of PBDEs and novel brominated flame retardants (NBFRs). 3. 13. PLE with integrated clean up followed by alternative detection steps for cost-effective analysis of dixons and dioxin-like compounds

    Författare :Erik Spinnel; Peter Haglund; Patrik Andersson; Tuulia Hyötyläinen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pressurized liquid extraction PLE ; PLE-C; modular PLE; ELISA; dioxin; dioxin-like compounds; GCxGC; analytical methods; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) are two structurally related groups of chemicals, generally referred to as `dioxins´. These are of great concern due to their high toxicity and global spread. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Extraction of PCBs and PCDD/Fs from Food and Feed Matrices Using Pressurised Liquid Extraction (PLE)

    Författare :Sune Sporring; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Feed; Pressurised Liquid Extraction PLE ; Food; PCDD F; PCB;

    Sammanfattning : Since the Belgian dioxin crisis in 1999 there has been a great demand for fast, cheap and reliable methods to analyse food and feed samples. Traditional methods use large amounts of solvent for the extraction, are time demanding and laborious, but new and more sophisticated methods have been developed in recent years. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Human exposure to persistent organic pollutants : Illustrated by four case studies in Europe

    Författare :Jana Weiss; Åke Bergman; Janice Huwe; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Human exposure; Persistent organic pollutants POPs ; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : An extensive use of chemicals in countless consumer products has resulted in human exposure to several persistent organic pollutants (POPs). Sufficient knowledge about their chemical composition properties and environmental faith is required, to be able to proper risk assess and regulate the substances. LÄS MER
