  1. 1. Pollinators and Insect Pollination in Changing Agricultural Landscapes

    Författare :Lina Herbertsson; Miljövetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pollinators; pollination; agri-environment schemes; beekeeping; oilseed rape; sown flower strips; agri-environment measures;

    Sammanfattning : Agricultural intensification and associated loss of semi-natural grasslands, has resulted in reduced landscape heterogeneity. A concomitant loss of forage and nest sites for pollinating insects has driven declines across several pollinator taxa. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The sensory morphology of insect pollinators : From structure to behaviour and ecology

    Författare :Zahra Moradinour; Emily Baird; Karl Gotthard; Karin Nordstrom; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Insect pollinators; butterfly; bumblebee; sensory system; developmental temperature; light habitat; Functional Zoomorphology; funktionell zoomorfologi;

    Sammanfattning : Insect pollinators play an important role in balancing our ecosystems and maintaining plant and food diversity. Due to anthropogenic activities such as global warming, habitat loss and degradation, pesticides, and pathogens, many pollinator populations have been undergoing drastic declines in recent decades. 3. 3. A behavioural investigation into Eristalis tenax : Pursuit, approach estimation, locomotor activity and rearing

    Författare :Malin Thyselius; Karin Nordström; Anna Rostedt Punga; Yuri Ogawa; Emily Baird; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Eristalis tenax; Insect rearing; Hoverflies; Pollinators; Circadian rhythm; Target detection; Motion vision; Pursuit; LAMS; Flight arena;

    Sammanfattning : Hoverflies are suggested to be the 2nd most important pollinator group after bees and bumblebees, and with the changing climate and dwindling numbers of pollinators it might never have been more important understanding our pollinators. Given the hoverflies’ small brains, beautiful aerial acrobatics, good temporal resolution, but limited spatial resolution, these flies make interesting study animals for flight behaviour and vision research. 4. 4. Effects of created habitats on farmland biodiversity

    Författare :Annelie Jönsson; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; agricultural intensification; brown hare; common pheasant; farming intensity; granivorous passerines; grey partridge; habitat creation; landscape heterogeneity; pollinators;

    Sammanfattning : Agricultural intensification has caused severe declines among biodiversity in European farmland over the last half century. The transformation of the agricultural landscape has led to reduced availability of key resources such as food, nesting habitat and shelter. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Small biotopes: Landscape and management effects on pollinators

    Författare :Annika Söderman; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Agri-environmnetal scheme; management; agriculture; landscape complexity; heterogeneity; landscape scale; mall biotopes; field boundaries; pollinating insects; pollination; bumblebees; solitary bees; hoverflies;

    Sammanfattning : The intensification of agriculture during the second half of the twentieth century, has caused sever declines of farmland biodiversity, where loss of semi-natural habitats is one of the major drivers. To halt further loss of habitat and biodiversity, agri-environmental schemes (AES) are used to compensate farmers to use methods less harmful to the environment. LÄS MER
