1. Objective Analysis Methods in the Mechanics of Sports
Sammanfattning : Sports engineering can be considered as the bridge between the knowledge of sports science and the principles of engineering and has an important role not only in improving the athletic performance, but also in increasing the safety of the athletes. Testing and optimization of sports equipment and athletic performance are essential for supporting athletes in their quest to reach the podium. LÄS MER
2. Experimental test setups and simulations in skiing mechanics
Sammanfattning : Product testing and development are essential parts in sports and for the athletes in their quest to reach the podium. Manufacturers of sports equipment often use basic test methods which do not test the equipment in a sports specific way. LÄS MER
3. Inverse scattering and distribution of resonances on the real line
Sammanfattning : We study aspects of scattering theory for the Schrödinger operator on the real line. In the first part of the thesis we consider potentials supported by a half-line, and we are interested in the inverse problem of reconstruction of the potential from the knowledge of values of the reflection coefficient at equidistributed points on the positive imaginary axis. 4. Measurement and modelling of unbalanced magnetic pull in hydropower generators
Sammanfattning : Hydropower research is often perceived to be an old and exhausted field of study but with ageing equipment and the need for more intermittent operation caused by an increased share of other renewable energy sources new challenges lie ahead. The main focus of this dissertation are the electromagnetic forces resulting from nonuniform air gap flux, whether it be caused by rotor eccentricity or a faulty field winding. 5. Design, Modelling and Control of Electrical Machines - With Applications to Iron-powder Machines and Acoustic Noise
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of two parts, the first dealing with the design of iron-powder synchronous machines, and the second with the analysis and prediction of the acoustic noise in electrical machines. In Part I, a 1.6 kW electrically magnetized claw-pole machine with magnetically conducting end-plates has been analyzed and a prototype tested. LÄS MER
