  1. 1. Media Echo Chambers: Selective Exposure and Confirmation Bias in Media Use, and its Consequences for Political Polarization

    Författare :Peter Dahlgren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; selective exposure; confirmation bias; political polarization; affective polarization; ideological polarization; political attitudes; political preferences;

    Sammanfattning : The new digital media landscape has created a high-choice media environment that has made it easier for people to find news and information that support their political beliefs and attitudes, and avoid news and information that challenge those beliefs or attitudes. How does this affect people’s selection of content and political polarization in the long run? This thesis investigates the relationship between different political preferences (political party, political interest and ideological leaning) and selective media use over time among the Swedish population, and whether this selectivity leads to political polarization (ideological polarization and affective polarization). 2. 2. Socio-economic differentiation and selective migration in rural and urban Sweden

    Författare :Susanne Hjort; Gunnar Malmberg; Colin P. Pooley; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Migration; rural; urban; Sweden; rural gentrification; polarization; segregation; Human geography; Kulturgeografi; Social and Economic Geography; kulturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to analyse migration and socio-economic differentiation in rural and urban spaces: where people move, what the characteristics of migrants are and whether experiences of rural and urban space affect attitudes toward the local living environment and place attachment. The background consists of five themes discussing different aspects of socio-economic differentiation and selective migration, for example polarization and rural gentrification. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Design of Functional Structures and Measurement Techniques for Electromagnetic Waves

    Författare :Johan Lundgren; Teoretisk elektroteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; functional structures; frequency selective structures; polarization selectivity; metasurface; near-field measurements; antenna measurements; scattering measurement; power density; random media;

    Sammanfattning : Electromagnetic fields exist all around us. Through evolution, nature has developed tools to interact and use these fields, where our eyes are a spectacular example. Humans have a long history of developing structures and objects of their own to alter and interact with these fields. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Modelling of polarization by molecular force fields: Further development of the NEMO potential

    Författare :Asbjørn Holt; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding of intermolecular interactions are important in order to gain insight into a large number of physical processes. This thesis concerns itself with theoretical modelling of such interactions. In particular there is a focus one of interaction contributions called polarization. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Structure and energetics of molecular recognition in galectin-3-ligand interactions

    Författare :Rohit Kumar; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Protein-ligand interactions; molecular recognition; weak bonds; thermodynamics; enthalpy; entropy; galectin-3; carbohydrate recognition domain; x-ray crystallography; fluorescence polarization; isothermal titration calorimetry; neutron crystallography; ;

    Sammanfattning : Molecular recognition is the key aspect of any cellular and biological function. Two or more molecules interacting with each other cause the effects that drives various basic functions that are fundamental to cells. Be these protein-protein, protein-nucleic acid or protein-ligand interactions, they all play important roles in a cell. LÄS MER
