6. Antennas and Propagation from a Signal Processing Perspective
Sammanfattning : This thesis studies several topics within the area of antennas and propagation from a signal processing perspective. However, theory and methods from electromagnetics and communications have also been used, contributing to an interdisciplinary character of the thesis. LÄS MER
7. Synthetic-Aperture Radar Imaging of Forests in the VHF and UHF Bands: Electromagnetic Models and Data Analysis
Sammanfattning : Synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) is a technique which can image the Earth’s surface, from a spaceborne or airborne platform, irrespective of daylight or cloud cover. During the last decades there has been an increasing interest in using SAR for estimation of forest parameters. LÄS MER
8. Growth of high quality Fe thin films : A study of the effect of mismatch strain on the physical properties of Fe
Sammanfattning : The work in this licentiate is devoted to investigating the epitaxial growth of thin Fe layers on MgAl2O4 (001) and MgO (001) substrates using dc magnetron sputtering. The aim is to qualitatively and quantitatively determine the crystal quality of the grown Fe layers depending on their thickness, substrate material, and selected deposition parameters. LÄS MER
9. 3D Magnetic Photonic Crystals : Synthesis and Characterization
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the synthesis methods and the characterizations of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles, silica spheres with Fe3O4 nanoparticles embedded, and three dimensional magnetic photonic crystals (MPCs) prepared from the spheres. The structure, material composition, magnetic and optical properties, photonic band gaps (PBGs), as well as how these properties depend on the concentration of the magnetic nanoparticles, are investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID), Faraday rotation (FR) and optical spectrophotometers. 10. Thermal conductivity of wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors
Sammanfattning : This PhD thesis presents experimental and theoretical studies of the thermal conductivity of wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors including GaN, AlN, β-Ga2O3 binary compounds, and AlxGa1−xN, ScxAl1−xN, YxAl1−xN ternary alloys. Thermal conductivity measurements are conducted using the transient thermoreflectance (TTR) technique and the results are interpreted using analytical models based on the solution of the Boltzmann transport equation (BTE) within the relaxation time approximation (RTA).
