21. Echocardiographic methods for assessment of coronary artery disease
Sammanfattning : Upright bicycle exercise echocardiography with digital image acquisition in seated position during exercise and in recumbent position before and immediately after exercise was performed in 66 men, one month after an episode of unstable coronary arte1y disease. It was difficult to obtain images of adequate quality during exercise but new or worsening of wall motion abnormalities not seen in recumbent position after exercise were detected at peak-exercise in patients with good image quality. 22. Sleep disordered breathing and hemodynamic function
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the association between sleep disordered breathing (SDB) and hemodynamic function. A cross sectional study in a sleep laboratory cohort (n=1190) demonstrated a dose-response relationship between the severity of SDB, expressed as respiratory disturbance index (RDI), and office blood pressure, heart rate, and the risk of hypertension. 23. Cardiovascular risk factors and peripheral vascular function in lung transplant recipients
Sammanfattning : Objective: Cardiovascular disease is a major contributor to morbidity and mortality after organ transplantation. Development of cardiovascular risk factors, like hypertension, is common after transplantation. LÄS MER
24. Jet Ventilation for Airway Surgery : The Influence of Mode and Frequency on Ventilation Efficacy
Sammanfattning : In surgery for airway obstruction, the anesthetist and the ear-nose-throat surgeon share the approach to the airway and jet ventilation (JV) is a mutually convenient ventilation technique for both parties. As a consequence of the open system jet ventilation is applied in, bedside measurements of lung volumes are cumbersome to perform and thus, there is a lack of studies comparing different modes of JV or investigating the influence of ventilator settings on lung volumes and gas exchange. 25. Respiratory and cardiovascular responses to diesel exhaust exposure
Sammanfattning : Background: Exposure to traffic-derived air pollution is associated to high incidence of respiratory and cardio-vascular morbidity and mortality. Diesel engines and fossil fuel contribute to a great amount to the ambient particulate matter pollution. LÄS MER
