1. Coordination chemistry of late transition metals with PCP ligands. Synthesis, catalysis and mechanism
Sammanfattning : Abstract The work presented in this thesis discusses synthesis of PCP-complexes and utilisations of such organometallic compounds in catalysis. The complexes, obtained by intramolecular Csp3-H activation, are based on the metals palladium, platinum and iridium. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on i) the effect of packing on the molecular geometry ii) packing arrangements of neutral Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes iii) the trans influence in Pt(II) complexes iv) the differences in bonding in corresponding Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes and v) the geometry of Pd(II) complexes with potential catalytic properties. Detailed three-dimensional structural information at the atomic level can be obtained from X-ray crystallography. LÄS MER
3. Molecular Structure and Packing of Platinum(II) Complexes with S-donor Ligands in the Solid State An X-ray Crystallographic Study
Sammanfattning : How do molecules arrange themselves in a crystal? It is today not possible to definite predict the three-dimensional packing arrangement of molecules in the crystalline solid state. The aim of the work presented in this thesis has been to gain more knowledge of what principles that govern molecular packing. LÄS MER
4. Formation and Decomposition of Platinum–Thallium Bond, Kinetics and Mechanism. Structural Characterization of Some Metal Cyanides in the Solid State
Sammanfattning : The kinetic and mechanistic features of a new series ofplatinum-thallium cyano compounds containing a direct andunsupported by ligands metal-metal bond have been studied insolution, using standard mixandmeasurespectrophotometric technique and stoppedflow method. These reactions are interpreted as oxidative addition of the cspecies to the square planar Pt(CN)42-complex. Sammanfattning : The kinetics and mechanism for interactions of the anticancer active platinum(II) complexes cis-[PtCl2(NH3)2)], cis-[PtCl2(NH3)(c-C6H11NH2)], and trans-[PtCl2-(NH3)(quinoline)] with DNA have been studied using a combination of HPLC, circular dichroism (CD), UV/vis spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Reactions of the monoaqua forms (charge = +1) of these complexes with single-stranded DNA oligonucleotides, typically between 13-17 bases long, were found to depend on i) the composition of the reaction medium, ii) the exact nature and location of the platination target, and iii) on the DNA structure.
