1. Wave Splitting and Effective Boundary Conditions for Structural Elements
Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is twofold. The first part concerns the wave splitting of structural elements. The second part concerns approximate boundary conditions for fluid-loaded thin plates. Wave splitting is a mathematical tool for the formulation of scattering problems in the time domain that aims at solving inverse problems, e. LÄS MER
2. A Study on Structural Cores for Lightweight Steel Sandwiches
Sammanfattning : Lightweight materials and structures are essential building blocks for a future with sustainable transportation and automotive industries. Incorporating lightweight materials and structures in today's vehicles, reduces weight and energy consumption while maintaining, or even improving, necessary mechanical properties and behaviors. 3. Fatigue Behaviour of RC beams Strengthened with CFRP : Analytical and Experimental investigations
Sammanfattning : Repeated cyclic loading of reinforced concrete (RC) structures such as bridges can cause reduced service life and structure failure due to fatigue even when the stress ranges applied to the structural components are very low. These problems can be mitigated by using fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites to increase the structures’ load carrying capacity and fatigue life or service life. LÄS MER
4. Varestraint Weldability Testing of Cast Superalloys
Sammanfattning : Precipitation hardened Ni- and Ni-Fe- based superalloys, used in hot structural components for aero engines, are subjected to hot cracking phenomena during manufacturing and specifically in welding. This type of cracking involves metallurgical reactions from the liquid phase in concomitance to weld restraints. LÄS MER
5. Biochemical studies of carbohydrate blood group antigens - Carbohydrate phenotype in relation to cellular glycosyltranferases
Sammanfattning : The possibility to alter the cell surface carbohydrate expression by insertion or deletion of glycosyltransferase genes is a powerful technique to study the biological function of selected carbohydrate antigens. However, shifting the equilibrium between competing glycosyltransferases might lead to unexpected phenotypic effects, such as accumulation of other carbohydrate antigens and exposure of antigen structures that normally are cryptic or present in minute amounts on the cell surface.
