  1. 1. Regulation of chloroplast development during the greening process

    Författare :Yan Ji; Åsa Strand; Eevi Rintamäki; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis thaliana; light response; anterograde signalling; plastid transcription; chloroplast development; photosynthesis; bZIP; PEP complex; de-etiolation; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Upon light exposure, the expression of one-third of the nuclear-encoded genes is changing, including genes encoding many chloroplast-targeted proteins responsible for the initiation of plastid transcription and the establishment of photosynthesis. The control of the nuclear-encoded genes involved in the development of chloroplast is referred to as anterograde signalling. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Get in tune : chloroplast and nucleus harmony

    Författare :Dmitry Kremnev; Åsa Strand; Francis-Andre Wollman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis thaliana; chloroplast; development; gene expression;

    Sammanfattning : Photosynthetic eukaryots emerged as a result of several billion years of evolution between proeukaryotic cell and ancestral cyanobacteria that formed modern chloroplasts. The symbiotic relationship led to significant rearrangements in the genomes of the plastid and the nucleus: as many as 90 % of all the plastid genes were transferred to the nucleus. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The chloroplast talks : Insights into the language of the chloroplast in Arabidopsis

    Författare :Peter Kindgren; Åsa Strand; Barry Pogson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis thaliana; chloroplast; photosynthesis; retrograde communication; Mg-ProtoIX; oxidative stress; gene expression; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Physiological Botany; fysiologisk botanik;

    Sammanfattning : The chloroplast originates from an endosymbiotic event 1.5 billion years ago, when a free living photosynthetic bacteria was engulfed by a eukaryotic host. The chloroplastic genome has through evolution lost many genes to the nuclear genome of the host. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Coordination of two different genomes in response to light and stress

    Författare :Louise Norén Lindbäck; Åsa Strand; Antony Dodd; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis thaliana; chloroplast; cellular communication; tetrapyrrole; circadian clock; oxidative stress; light signalling; gene regulation; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : About 1.5 billion years ago, a photosynthetic bacteria was engulfed by a eukaryotic cell which initiated a symbiotic relationship and the evolution of the chloroplast as we know it today. The chloroplast has retained its own genome encoding for a number of proteins required for the function of the chloroplast. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Transcriptional and posttranscriptional regulation of the psbA gene family in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis 6803

    Författare :Abdalla Mohamed Jama; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Photosynthesis is the process by which photosynthetic organisms convert solar energy into chemical energy and further into carbohydrates. In plants, algae and the prokaryotic cyanobacteria the harness and conversion of sunlight takes place in specialized membranes called thylakoids. LÄS MER
