11. η Meson Production in Proton-Proton Collisions at Excess Energies of 40 and 72 MeV
Sammanfattning : The production of η mesons in proton-proton collisions has been studied with the WASA detector using internal pellet targets in the CELSIUS storage ring at the The Svedberg Laboratory in Uppsala. Data were taken at two beam energies, 1360 MeV and 1445 MeV, corresponding to CM excess energies of 40 and 72 MeV, respectively. LÄS MER
12. Microvascular inflammatory response in the skin
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the microvascular inflammatory response in the skin. The microvascular response includes vasodilatation and plasma exudation. In the first three studies, the combined response was measured in guinea pig skin with a technique based on detection of radiolabelled protein. LÄS MER
13. Background Studies for the Balloon-Borne Hard X-ray Polarimeter PoGOLite
Sammanfattning : The polarisation degree and angle of the X-ray flux emitted by astrophysical objects holds valuable information on the responsible emission mechanisms and on the emission environments. PoGOLite is a balloon-borne hard X-ray polarimeter designed to measure polarisation using a segmented plastic scintillator array. LÄS MER
14. The Anticoincidence System of the PAMELA Satellite Experiment : Design of the data acquisition system and performance studies
Sammanfattning : PAMELA is a satellite-borne cosmic ray experiment. Its primary scientific objective is to study the antiproton and positron components of the cosmic radiation. This will be done with unprecedented statistics over a wide energy range (~10MeV to ~100GeV). LÄS MER
15. Imaging the high energy cosmic ray sky
Sammanfattning : The Stockholm Educational Air Shower Array (SEASA) project is deploying an array of plastic scintillator detector stations on school roofs in the Stockholm area. Signals from GPS satellites are used to time synchronise signals from the widely separated detector stations, allowing cosmic ray air showers to be identified and studied. LÄS MER
