1. Mechanical Characterization of Engineering Materials by Modal Testing
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the use of modal testing for establishing elastic constants of engineering materials and for indicating material variability in terms of stiffness and damping properties. The methodology using modal testing techniques, is applied to timber beams, high strength concrete prisms, wood-based panels (oriented strand board and chipboard), an aluminium alloy panel and plastic laminate panels (high-pressure laminate). 2. Deep inferior epigastric perforator flap breast reconstruction after mastectomy : An analysis of long-term outcomes and potential complications
Sammanfattning : This thesis evaluated the long-term effects and satisfaction with outcomes following deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP)-based breast reconstruction after mastectomyPaper I is a retrospective cohort study of women who received a unilateral DIEP in 2000–2009 (n = 225) in Uppsala. These women were compared with individually matched women who underwent mastectomy without autologous reconstruction (n = 450). LÄS MER
3. Load-Carrying Capacity of Steel Girders and Panels with Thin-Walled Trapezoidally Corrugated Webs
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the load-carrying capacity of steel girders and panels with thin-walled trapezoidally corrugated webs. Computer-based numerical methods are used as a tool and emphasis is placed on various parametric studies, covering geometric parameters, initial imperfections, material strain-hardening models, loading types and loading positions, and so forth. 4. Parametric FE-modelling of non-linear racking behaviour of light-frame shear walls and modules used for multi-storey timber buildings
Sammanfattning : Wood is a sustainable material from nature that has a longstanding traditionas a building material. Compared to other construction materials, such as steeland concrete, the significance of using structural timber and engineered wood products has increased in recent years because they are regarded as a renewable source and require a low carbon footprint and less energy consumption during production. 5. CFRP Strengthening of Cut-Out Openings in Concrete Walls – Analysis and Laboratory Tests
Sammanfattning : Redesigning buildings to improve their space efficiency and allow changes in use is often essential during their service lives to comply with shifts in living standards and functional demands. This may require the introduction of new openings in elements such as beams, walls, and slabs, which inevitably reduces their structural performance and hence requires repair or strengthening.
