  1. 1. Wafer-scale Vacuum and Liquid Packaging Concepts for an Optical Thin-film Gas Sensor

    Författare :Mikael Antelius; Göran Stemme; Yogesh B. Gianchandani; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Microelectromechanical systems; MEMS; Nanoelectromechanical systems; NEMS; silicon; wafer-level; packaging; vacuum packaging; liquid encapsulation; integration; wire bonding; grating coupler; waveguide; Fabry-Perot resonator;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis treats the development of packaging and integration methods for the cost-efficient encapsulation and packaging of microelectromechanical (MEMS) devices. The packaging of MEMS devices is often more costly than the device itself, partly because the packaging can be crucial for the performance of the device. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Migration from plastic food packaging during microwave heating

    Författare :Jonas Alin; Minna Hakkarainen; Sahar Al-Malaika; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; migration; food packaging; microwave; degradation; food simulant; antioxidant;

    Sammanfattning : Microwave heating of food has increased rapidly as a food processing technique. This increases the concern that chemicals could migrate from food packaging to food. The specific effect of microwave heating in contrast to conventional heating on overall and specific migration from common plastic food storage boxes was studied in this work. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The process of creating a nation-wide pool system for transport packaging - from vision to decision

    Författare :Kerstin Gustafsson; Förpackningslogistik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multi-party packaging development; packaging pool; pool system; supply chain management; change management; supply chain learning; Packaging logistics;

    Sammanfattning : After several years of disussions, tests, investigations and additional tests, the suppliers and retailers within the Swedish business sector for food and commodities formed a jointly owned, non-profit company in 1997, which subsequently started in physical operations in 2000. This company, Svenska Retursystem AB (www.retursystem. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Antioxidant-Impregnated Polymers / Antioxidant Ability and Interactions with Food

    Författare :Carolina Wessling; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Food and drink technology; shelf-life; interactions; packaging; polymers; BHT; antioxidants; a-tocopherol; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Interactions between antioxidant-impregnated low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and polypropylene (PP), and oxygen-sensitive foods have been investigated. BHT and a-tocopherol are two antioxidants commonly used in both foods and polymers. In general, BHT was rapidly lost from LDPE film in contact with various foodstuffs. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Due to climate change and plastic pollution, there is an increasing demand for bio-based materials with similar properties to those of common plastics yet biodegradable. In this respect, cellulose is a strong candidate that is already being refined on a large industrial scale, but the properties differ significantly from those of common plastics in terms of shapeability and water-resilience.
