  1. 1. Plasma membrane arabinogalactan proteins

    Författare :Lars Snogerup; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; arabinogalactan protein plant development cell-cell interaction plasma membrane; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) are proteoglycans found at the outer side of the plasma membrane and in the extracellular matrix of plants. To be able to study the plasma membrane bound AGPs, a method using SDS-agarose gel electrophoresis (SDS-AGE) was developed to overcome the problems associated with electrophoretic separation of highly glycosylated proteins. 2. 2. Cholesterol in T cells : homeostasis, plasma membrane organization and signaling

    Författare :Saleemulla Mahammad; Ingela Parmryd; Thomas Harder; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plasma membrane; T cells; Cholesterol; Lipid rafts; Membrane organization; Cholesterol homeostasis; cholesteryl esters; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The plasma membrane of eukaryotic cells contains cholesterol and glycosphingolipids enriched nanodomains known as lipid rafts; which are believed to exist in a liquid ordered (lo) state. Methyl-beta-cyclodextrin (MBCD) is used to deplete cellular cholesterol and a widespread assumption is that MBCD preferentially targets cholesterol in lipid rafts. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Plasma membrane/cytoskeleton interactions in plants

    Författare :Anders Sonesson; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Triton X-114; hydrophobic tubulin; tubulin; actin; cytoskeleton; Brij 58; inside-out; plasma membrane; plant; cauliflower; Physiological biophysics; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The way in which the cortical cytoskeleton associates to the plasma membrane (PM) must be elucidated to understand the structural dynamics of many processes in the plant cell. In the present study, isolated cauliflower (Brassica oleracea L.) PM vesicles were used to characterize membrane/cytoskeleton interactions. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Advanced Fluorescence Microscopy to Study Plasma Membrane Protein Dynamics

    Författare :Joachim Piguet; Horst Vogel; Ruud Hovius; Jerker Widengren; Antoine Triller; Switzerland Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL); []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fluorescence; microscopy; plasma membrane; membrane proteins; membrane proteins diffusion; single-molecule imaging; single-molecule tracking; pentameric ligand-gated ion channels; nicotinic acetylcholine receptor; serotonin receptor; synapse; neuromuscular junction; post-synaptic scaffold; rapsyn; myopathies; fluorescent proteins; Förster resonance energy transfer; FRET imaging; protein-protein interactions; protein trafficking; photo-activatable proteins; Biological Physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane protein dynamics is of great importance for living organisms. The precise localization of proteins composing a synapse on the membrane facing a nerve terminus is essential for proper functioning of the nervous system. In muscle fibers, the nicotinic acetylcholine is densely packed under the motor nerve termini. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pathogen entry mechanisms and endocytic responses to plasma membrane damage

    Författare :Lars Nygård Skalman; Richard Lundmark; Kristian Riesbeck; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Endocytosis; plasma membrane; pathogens; virus; bacterial membrane vesicles; Helicobacter pylori; adenovirus 37; listeriolysin O; pore-forming toxins; membrane repair;

    Sammanfattning : Endocytosis is a fundamental cellular process by which cells transport material from the outside to the inside of the cell through the formation of membrane invaginations that bud off from the plasma membrane. This process is important for nutrient uptake, regulating cell surface receptors and the overall plasma membrane composition. LÄS MER
