21. Collisional effects on electrostatic shock waves and heating in laser-generated plasmas
Sammanfattning : Electrostatic shock waves are associated with an electrostatic field structure propagating at supersonic speed through laboratory or astrophysical plasmas. Shock ion acceleration schemes, based on the strong electrostatic field in the shock structure, show promising potential due to the narrow energy spread of accelerated ions – which can be applied in plasma diagnostics, the generation of warm dense matter or medical purposes. 22. Development and application of laser diagnostics - from laboratory devices towards practical combustion engines
Sammanfattning : For many decades, research work on combustion has been focused on improving combustion efficiency and reducing harmful emissions. Laser diagnostics is one of the best ways to investigate the combustion process and emission formation as it is non-intrusive and it has high spatiotemporal resolution. LÄS MER
23. New innovative methods for non-intrusive optical diagnostics of high-voltage insulator materials
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this PhD thesis work has been to develop optical techniques that can help utility engineers for assessing the state of insulators in service and in a laboratory. The possibilities to use remote laser induced fluorescence for detection and imaging of biological growth such as algae and fungi have been investigated. LÄS MER
24. Experimental methods of neutron diagnostics and fast ion physics for fusion devices
Sammanfattning : Measurements of the neutron emission resulting from nuclear fusion reactions provide an abundance of information on the underlying spatial, temporal and energetic distributions of reacting ions and how they are affected by a wide range of MagnetoHydroDynamic (MHD) instabilities. This thesis focuses on studies of the neutron emission and fast ion physics at the Mega Ampere Spherical Tokamak (MAST), its upgrade MAST-U, the Joint European Torus (JET) and the Divertor Tokamak Test (DTT). 25. On the Use of Laser-Induced Incandescence for Soot Diagnostics: From Theoretical Aspects to Applications in Engines
Sammanfattning : The laser-induced incandescence technique (LII) is a laser-based diagnostic technique for measurements of soot volume fraction and particle size. The technique relies on detection of incandescent light from soot particles heated to around 4000 K using nanosecond laser pulses. LÄS MER
