1. Barley defense genes against aphids
Sammanfattning : Aphids are insect pests with major importance worldwide. By feeding from plant phloem, they directly withdraw nutrients. The feeding injury is often visible in the form of leaf rolling, chlorosis, necrosis or plant deformation. Their pest status is attributed also to vectoring of plant viruses. LÄS MER
2. Trichoderma viride alamethicin and plant cells - Action, response and resistance
Sammanfattning : Alamethicin is a membrane active peptide secreted from the soil-living fungus Trichoderma viride. When coexisting with T. Viride, plant roots are exposed to alamethicin, which has the ability to elicit formation of volatile compounds involved in pathogen defence. LÄS MER
3. Volatiles of Conifer Seedlings : Compositions and Resistance Markers
Sammanfattning : Pine weevils cause major damage to newly planted conifer seedlings in reforestation areas. However, recent findings indicate that small (“mini”) seedlings, planted at the age of 7-10 weeks, are gnawed less by pine weevils than the larger, conventionally planted seedlings. LÄS MER
4. Microbotryum violaceum on Silene dioica : understanding traits that influence plant-pathogen interactions
Sammanfattning : The dynamics of a plant-pathogen interaction vary both within and among species. Both spatial structuring and specific genetic and life-history characteristics will affect the interaction and the outcome of a potential co-evolution between the two organisms. LÄS MER
5. Interactions between gray-sided voles (Clethrionomys rufocanus) and vegetation in the Fennoscandian tundra
Sammanfattning : I have, in this thesis, studied the interactions between gray-sided voles (Clethrionomys rufocanus) and tundra vegetation, on islands in, and mainland sites close to the lake Iešjávri, in northern Norway. As isolated islands are virtually free of predation, I have been able to compare plant-herbivore interactions in the presence and absence of predators. LÄS MER
