  1. 1. Characterization of New Players in Planar Polarity Establishment in Arabidopsis

    Författare :Stefano Pietra; Markus Grebe; Niko Geldner; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SABRE; planar polarity; CLASP; cell division orientation; microtubule cytoskeleton; actin; AIP1; patterning; Developmental Biology; miljömedicinsk utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Coordinated polarity and differentiation of cells in the plane of a tissue layer are essential to the development of multicellular organisms. Arabidopsis thaliana root hairs and trichomes provide model systems to study the pathways that control planar polarity and cell fate specification in plants. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Planar-Goubau-line components for terahertz applications

    Författare :Juan Cabello Sánchez; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; planar Goubau line; Through-Reflect-Line TRL calibration; stopband filter; on-wafer measurements; vector network analyzers VNA ; silicon membrane; power divider; Impedance-matched load; terahertz spectroscopy; microfluidic channels;

    Sammanfattning : Terahertz-wave technology has a broad range of applications, including radio astronomy, telecommunications, security, medical applications, pharmaceutical quality control, and biological sensing. However, the sources, detectors, and components are less efficient at this frequency band due to parasitic effects and increased total losses, which hinder the performance of terahertz systems. 3. 3. Microfluidic Devices for Manipulation and Detection of Beads and Biomolecules

    Författare :Mats Jönsson; Ulf Lindberg; Bertil Hök; Johan Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Engineering physics; sensor; micro; dielectrophoresis; impedance; electrode; beads; cell; flow; bacteria; microfabrication; biosensor; electrocapture; microfluidic; planar; Lab on chip; µTAS; micro total analysis system; QCM; dispersion; field-flow fractionation; ITO; design; fabrication; Teknisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis summarises work towards a Lab-on-Chip (LOC). The request for faster and more efficient chemical and biological analysis is the motivation behind the development of the LOC-concept. Microfluidic devices tend to become increasingly complex in order to include, e.g. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Dispersion Corrections at Planar Surfaces

    Författare :Linnea Lundberg; Olle Edholm; Arnold Maliniak; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biological Physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : When simulating a molecular system, a cutoff distance for interactions is often used to speed up the simulations. This is made at the cost of neglecting some interactions which will lead to inaccurate results for energy, pressure components and surface tension (for systems with surfaces). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Novel planar and particle-based microarrays for point-of-care diagnostics

    Författare :Gustav Svedberg; Helene Svahn Andersson; Jesper Gantelius; Fridtjof Lund-Johansen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Planar microarrays; Particle-based microarrays; Point-of-care diagnostics; Colorimetric detection; Signal enhancement; Isothermal DNA amplification; Solid-phase DNA amplification; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Point-of-care assays are easy-to-use, portable and inexpensive tests that canbe used to aid diagnostics by measuring levels of disease-specific moleculesin settings where access to advanced laboratory equipment and trainedpersonnel are limited, such as at the patient's bedside or in low resourceparts of developing countries. In order to achieve high multiplexingcapacities, such assays can be based on planar microarrays consisting ofspots immobilized on a flat surface or on particle-based microarrays basedon populations of encoded particles.
