  1. 1. Genetic and epidemiological aspects of implantation defects : Studies on recurrent miscarriage, preeclampsia and oocyte donation

    Författare :Evangelia Elenis; Agneta Skoog Svanberg; Alkistis Skalkidou; Gunilla Sydsjö; Helena Åkerud; Anja Pinborg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Angiogenesis; genetic polymorphism; gestational hypertensive disorders; Histidine-rich glycoprotein; HRG; implantation defect; oocyte donation; placentation; preeclampsia; recurrent miscarriage; SNP.; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Sammanfattning : Implantation requires complex molecular and cellular events involving coagulation, angiogenesis and immunological processes that need to be well regulated for a pregnancy to establish and progress normally.  The overall aim of this thesis was to study different models associated with atypical angiogenesis, impaired implantation and/or placentation, such as recurrent miscarriage (RM), oocyte donation (OD) and preeclampsia. 2. 2. Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Abnormal Placentation in the Mouse

    Författare :Yang Yu; Reinald H. Fundele; Rolf Ohlsson; J. GRAHAM BURTON; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; IUGR; Placental phenotype; Placental hyperplasia; Diabetes; IHPD; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Placental development can be disturbed by various factors, such as mutation of specific genes or maternal diabetes. Our previous work on interspecies hybrid placental dysplasia (IHPD) and two additional models of placental hyperplasia, cloned mice and Esx1 mutants, showed that many genes are deregulated in placental dysplasia. 3. 3. Characterizing retained placenta : epidemiology and pathophysiology of a critical obstetric disorder

    Författare :Margit Endler; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Retained placenta is associated with severe postpartum hemorrhage but its etiology and pathophysiology are largely unknown. Certain studies have suggested that retained placenta is associated to defective placentation disorders- pregnancy disorders with an initial defective placentation resulting in increased oxidative stress. 4. 4. New Functions for Old Genes in the Mouse Placenta

    Författare :Umashankar Singh; Reinald Fundele; Anne C Ferguson-Smith; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Developmental biology; hybrid dysgenesis effects; placental hyperplasia; functional screening; giant cell; glycogen cell; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Different species are separated by pre-zygotic reproductive barriers which impede gene flow between them. Rarely, when pre-zygotic barriers break down, interspecific hybrids are produced that display abnormal phenotypes, collectively called hybrid dysgenesis effects. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cytokines and immune balance in preeclampsia : a survey of some immunological variables and methods in the study of preeclampsia

    Författare :Yvonne Jonsson; Christina Ekerfelt; Göran Berg; Leif Matthiesen; Lucia Mincheva-Nilsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Preeclampsia; Cytokines; Leukocytes; Immunology; Placenta; Th1 Th2 balance; Inflammation; Immunobiology; Immunbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Preeclampsia is one of the most feared pregnancy complications, with a risk of maternal and fetal death and with no ideal therapy readily available. The cause of this strictly pregnancyrelated disease is still unknown and is therefore a great challenge to all researchers in the field of pregnancy-related pathophysiology. LÄS MER
