  1. 1. Hormone concentrations during pregnancy and maternal risk of epithelial ovarian cancer

    Författare :Helena Schock; Eva Lundin; Annika Idahl; Renée Turzanski Fortner; Anne Zeleniuch-Jacquotte; Shelley S Tworoger; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; epithelial ovarian cancer; sex steroid hormones; IGF-I; placental GH; AMH; pregnancy; prospective study; patologi; Pathology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The aim of this thesis was to study the relationship of pre-diagnostic circulating concentrations of sex steroid hormones (androgens, estradiol, 17-hydroxyprogesterone, and progesterone), growth factors (insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), placental growth hormone (GH)), sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), and anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) with risk of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) overall, and by tumor invasiveness and histology. A longitudinal study was used to assess patterns of hormonal changes during a single pregnancy, and in two consecutive pregnancies. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Placental transport of glucose and amino acids in early pregnancy. Cellular mechanisms, regulation and relation to diabetes

    Författare :Anette Ericsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :placental transport; diabetes; first trimester; GLUT; system A; hyperglycemia;

    Sammanfattning : Despite strict glycemic control of the pregnant woman with type 1 diabetes fetal overgrowth is still common. The first trimester is often characterized by sub-optimal glucose levels and elevated HbA1C in early pregnancy is a predictor of fetal overgrowth. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Hypoglycaemia in pregnancy : hypoglycaemic clamp studies during and after pregnancy in women with IDDM

    Författare :Anders Björklund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Adrenaline; cardiotocography; cognitive function; Doppler; fetal; fetal monitoring; growth hormone; hormonal counterregulation; hypoglycaemia; insulin; insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus; metabolic clearance rate; placenta; pregnancy; subjective symptoms;

    Sammanfattning : Problem: In pregnant women with IDDM a strict insulin regimen is generally instituted, which permits the possibility of a normal fetal outcome. This, however, increases the risk of hypoglycaemia, and a high prevalence of severe hypoglycaemia has been reported during pregnancy in these women. LÄS MER
