1. Identifying charged hadrons on the relativistic rise using the ALICE TPC at LHC
Sammanfattning : The chain from hadron collisions to the physics results requires several important links. First the outcome of the collision is measured by the detectors. Then, the signal from the detector is processed and transformed into information relevant for the study of the physics processes. LÄS MER
2. R-hadron Searches and Charged Pion Spectra at High Transverse Momentum in Proton-Proton Collisions at the LHC using the ALICE Detector
Sammanfattning : With the start-up of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), a new energy regime has opened up. The Standard Model (SM) can be ``rediscovered'' and new theories can be tested. ALICE, the dedicated heavy-ion experiment at LHC, will also record proton-proton (pp) collisions. LÄS MER
3. On Experimental and Theoretical Studies of Dynamics and Particle Production in p+Nucleus and Heavy Ion Reactions
Sammanfattning : Several experiments and theoretical models of intermediate energy heavy ion collision physics are presented in this thesis. Statistical and dynamical aspects of nuclear collisions are widely discussed these days, particularly in connection with the multifragmentation phenomenon and the possible link to a liquid-gas phase transition in the spinodal region of nuclear matter phase diagram. 4. As simple as ABC - the dd → α X reaction explained
Sammanfattning : A model is presented for the dd → αππ reaction. It is based on two parallell and almost independent NN → dπ processes, where the final deutrons fuse to form the α particle. While underestimating the results at lower energies, the modelgives a good quantitative description of the α-particle momentum distributions throughout the 0. LÄS MER
5. Hadronic Decays of the ω Meson
Sammanfattning : Two decay channels of the ω(782) meson, into π+π-π0 and π+π-, are studied. The dynamics of the three-pion channel is represented using a two-dimensional distribution, called a Dalitz plot. A high-statistics Dalitz plot distribution is needed to test theoretical predictions and increase understanding of the decay mechanism. LÄS MER
