  1. 1. Seagrasses in warming oceans : physiological and biogeochemical responses

    Författare :Rushingisha George; Mats Björk; Martin Gullström; Teresa Alcoverro Pedrola; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Global warming; greenhouse gas; warming oceans; temperate; tropical; coastal waters; Western Indian Ocean WIO ; tidal variability; seagrass; photosynthesis; respiration; photorespiration; biogeochemical processes; sulphide; methane; nitrous oxide; carbon dioxide; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The exponential increase of atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations over the past 50 years has caused a rise in the global average temperature by more than 1ºC above pre-industrial levels. Ninety-three percent of this heat energy has been absorbed and stored by the oceans, increasing their temperatures, particularly in surface waters. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Physiological responses to acute physical and psychosocial stress- relation to aerobic capacity and exercise training

    Författare :Elin Arvidsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute stress; exercise training; aerobic capacity; physiological responses;

    Sammanfattning : Exercise training is an effective method to promote health and to prevent development of disease. Both physical and mental health have been shown to benefit from exercise training. It has also been speculated that physical exercise might affect responses to acute psychosocial stress. LÄS MER

  3. 3. IgM and Complement in Regulation of Antibody Responses

    Författare :Anna Sörman; Birgitta Heyman; Michael Holers; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgG; GC responses; feedback regulation; T-cell responses; antigen presentation; complement receptors 1 and 2; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Animals deficient in complement components C1q, C4, C3, and CR1/2 have severely impaired antibody responses. C1q is primarily activated by antibody-antigen complexes. Antigen-specific IgM in complex with an antigen is able to enhance the antibody response against that antigen. This is dependent on the ability of IgM to activate complement. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Emotional and physiological responses to touch massage

    Författare :Lenita Lindgren; Christine Brulin; Ola Winsö; Stefan Lehtipalo; Lars Berggren; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Touch; touch massage; emotion; anxiety; autonomic nervous sytem; brain; stress; omvårdnadsforskning med medicinsk inriktning; Caring Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Clinical findings indicate that touch massage has the ability to induce positive emotions and influence stress responses. However, little is known about mechanisms that can explain observed responses.Aim: To understand mechanisms behind observed emotional and physiological responses during and after touch massage. 5. 5. Effects of cognitive tasks on car drivers’ behaviors and physiological responses

    Författare :Emma Nilsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cognitive load; traffic safety; autonomous drive; inattention; distraction; physiological measures; driver behavior; psychophysiology;

    Sammanfattning : The effects of drivers’ engagement in cognitive tasks (i.e., non-visual, cognitively loading activities unrelated to the task of driving) are debated and unclear. Numerous experiments show impaired driver behaviors, yet naturalistic studies typically do not find an increased crash risk. LÄS MER
