  1. 21. Mathematical Reasoning : In physics and real-life context

    Författare :Helena Johansson; Mats Andersson; Jesper Boesen; Morten Blomhøj; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Creative mathematical reasoning; Descriptive statistics; Differential item functioning; Figurative context; Imitative reasoning; Mathematical Reasoning Requirements; Mathematics tasks; National tests; Physics tasks; Real-life context; T-test; Upper secondary school; Creative mathematical reasoning; Descriptive statistics; Differential item functioning; Figurative context; Imitative reasoning; Mathematical Reasoning Requirements; Mathematics tasks; National tests; Physics tasks; Real-life context; T-test; Upper secondary school;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is a compilation of four papers in which mathematical reasoning is examined in various contexts, in which mathematics is an integral part. It is known from previous studies that a focus on rote learning and procedural mathematical reasoning hamper students’ learning of mathematics. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Soft resummation and hard evolution : Renormalization group methods in effective theories and multi scalar models

    Författare :Joel Oredsson; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Higgs; Particle physics; two-Higgs-doublet model; Soft-Collinear-Effective Theory; Renormalization;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is composed out of five papers that deal with various problems intheoretical particle physics. While paper I is a precision calculation in aneffective theory of the Standard Model, paper II to V all deal with beyond theStandard Model physics. Paper IV is a manual for the tools developed during ourwork on paper II to V.Paper I. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Methods of Measuring Radioactivity in the Environment

    Författare :Mats Isaksson; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; radioactivity; soil sampling; depth distribution; nuclear weapons fallout; Chernobyl; sewage sludge; deposition; Ekologi; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Isaksson; Ecology; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Cs-137;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis a variety of sampling methods have been utilised to assess the amount of deposited activity, mainly of Cs-137, from the Chernobyl accident and from the nuclear weapons tests. Starting with the Chernobyl accident in 1986 sampling of air and rain was used to determine the composition and amount of radioactive debris from this accident, brought to southern Sweden by the weather systems. 4. 24. The short, excited life of tellurium : Lifetime analysis of excited states in the Te midshell region

    Författare :Ebba Ahlgren Cederlöf; Ayse Nyberg; Torbjörn Bäck; Johan Nyberg; Matthias Weiszflog; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gamma spectroscopy; lifetime measurement; lifetime; shell model; RDDS; DDCM; nuclear physics; nuclear structure; gamma spektroskopi; livstidsmätningar; livstid; skalmodellen; RDDS; DDCM; kärnfysik; kärnstruktur; Atomic; Subatomic and Astrophysics; Atomär fysik; subatomär fysik och astrofysik;

    Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis, lifetimes of low lying excited states in the midshell region of tellurium isotopes are discussed. The nuclear lifetimes are interesting properties to study, since they are inversely proportional to the transition probabilities, which contain information on the underlying structure of the nucleus. 5. 25. Hygroscopic Growth of Atmospheric Aerosol Particles and Its Relation to Nucleation Scavenging in Clouds

    Författare :Birgitta Svenningsson; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aerosol formation; atmospheric aerosols; hygroscopic growth; nucleation scavenging; cloud; water activity; external mixing; tandem differential mobility analyser; Kärnfysik; cloud condensation nuclei spectra; Nuclear physics; TDMA; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Svenningsson; inorganic salts;

    Sammanfattning : Aerosol particles in the atmosphere are important in several aspects. Some major aerosol constituents that are deposited in ecosystems are acidic or fertilisers and some minor or trace constituents are toxic. LÄS MER
