  1. 11. Miniprojects and Context Rich Problems : Case studies with qualitative analysis of motivation, learner ownership and competence in small group work in physics

    Författare :Margareta Enghag; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Social sciences; context rich problems; CRP; mini projects; MP; physics in upper secondary school; Students’ ownership of learning; SOL; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis reports case studies of students working with context rich problems (CRP) and mini projects (MP) in physics in an upper secondary school class and in a physics teacher education class at university. The students report a big shift from physics in secondary school as fun and easy, to physics in upper secondary school as boring, difficult and with lack of time for reflections and physics talking, but they also found physics as interesting in itself. 2. 12. MRI evaluation and image processing in gel dosimetry. A study of selected MRI properties and image processing in 3D gel dosimetry

    Författare :Peter Magnusson; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; image registering; multi-slice; slice profile; ferrous sulphate; polyacrylamide; 3D volume acquisition; RF field; B1 field; relaxation time; T1; T2; spin-echo; multi-spin-echo; stochastic noise; nonuniformity; SNR; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Radiopharmaceutical technology; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Gel dosimetry is a new dosimetry method applied in radiation therapy. Gel dosimeters consist of a radiation sensitive gel, which can integrate absorbed doses from several radiation sources or beams. The dose to the gel can be evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a procedure that is the focus of the present thesis. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Investigation of a Methodology for the Detection of Diversions in Spent Nuclear Fuel

    Författare :Moad al-Dbissi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flux gradient detector; artificial neural networks; partial defects; neutron scintillator; spent nuclear fuel; nuclear safeguards; machine learning;

    Sammanfattning : One of the main tasks in nuclear safeguards is the inspection of Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF) to detect possible diversions of their special nuclear material content, e.g., U-235 and Pu-239. These inspections verify the declared SNF via passive measurements of characteristic signatures such as the emissions of neutrons and gamma rays. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Spectroscopic techniques for photodynamic therapy dosimetry

    Författare :Ann Johansson; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atomic and molecular physics; diffuse light spectroscopy; photodynamic therapy; biomedical optics; Atom- och molekylärfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Photodynamic therapy (PDT) as a cancer treatment modality relies on the simultaneous presence of three components; light, photosensitiser and oxygen. Once excited by the light, the photosensitiser can interact with oxygen, leading to the formation of toxic oxygen species. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Single Photon Sources and Single Quantum System enabled Communication

    Författare :Muhammad Alley Hameedi; Mohamed Bourennane; Nicolas Brunner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum information; quantum optics; quantum communication; single photon sources; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Quantum information is a highly interesting and fast emerging field that involves processing information encoded into quantum systems and their subsequent use in various information tasks. The use of quantum resources such as superposition and entanglement have shown to enhance information processing capabilities beyond classical means in a number of communication, information and computation tasks.
