    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses solitary waves and their significance for auroral particle acceleration, coronal heating and incoherent scatter radar spectra. Solitary waves are formed due to a balance of nonlinear and dispersive effects. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Solving the quantum scattering problem for systems of two and three charged particles

    Författare :Mikhail Volkov; Nils Elander; William McCurdy; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Scattering theory; three body scattering; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylfysik; Mathematical physics; Matematisk fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : A rigorous formalism for solving the Coulomb scattering problem is presented in this thesis. The approach is based on splitting the interaction potential into a finite-range part and a long-range tail part. In this representation the scattering problem can be reformulated to one which is suitable for applying exterior complex scaling. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Explorations of University Physics in Abstract Contexts : From de Sitter Space to Learning Space

    Författare :Daniel Domert; Cedric Linder; Ulf Danielsson; Duncan Fraser; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : This is a thesis which contributes to research in two different fields: theoretical physics and physics education research. The common link between these two research areas is that both involve explorations of abstract physics and mathematical representations, but from different perspectives. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On string integrability : A journey through the two-dimensional hidden symmetries in the AdS/CFT dualities

    Författare :Valentina Giangreco Marotta Puletti; Konstantin Zarembo; Gleb Arutyunov; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : One of the main topics in the modern String Theory are the conjectured string/gauge (AdS/CFT) dualities. Proving such conjectures is extremely difficult since the gauge and string theory perturbative regimes do not overlap. In this perspective, the discovery of infinitely many conserved charges, i.e. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Spatiotemporal carrier dynamics in graphene

    Författare :Roland Jago; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spatiotemporal dynamics; density matrix formalism; graphene; relaxation dynamics; carrier multiplication; Bloch equations; photoconduction effect; bolometric effect;

    Sammanfattning : Graphene as an atomically thin material exhibits remarkable optical and electronic properties that suggest its technological application in novel optoelectronic devices, such as graphene-based photodetectors and lasers. To understand the properties of such devices on a microscopic level, we study the interplay of optical excitation, carrier-carrier, carrier-phonon, and carrierphoton scattering as well as diffusion processes.
