  1. 1. Socioeconomic differences in myocardial infarction risk : epidemiological analyses of causes and mechanisms

    Författare :Johan Hallqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :myocardial infarction; socioeconomic factors; job strain; smoking; physicalactivity; incidence; time trends; interaction; case-crossover.;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the seize of the socioeconomic differences in risk of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), the time trends in incidence in different socioeconomic groups, and explores some mechanisms generating the socioeconomic gradient. Three different types of mechanisms were considered: causal chains, interaction or susceptibility, and triggering mechanisms. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Chronic Systemic Inflammation, Body Composition and Physical Activity Behaviours in Older Adults

    Författare :Oscar Bergens; Fawzi Kadi; Andreas Nilsson; Mats Börjesson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ageing; Exercise; Sedentary behaviour; Adipose tissue; Muscle mass; Muscle strength; Inflammatory biomarkers; Cardiorespiratory fitness; Metabolic health;

    Sammanfattning : Ageing is associated with a gradual physical decline accompanied by changes in body composition. The occurrence of a low-grade yet chronic state of systemic inflammation has gained interest for its potential consequences in the ageing process. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Participation in physical activity among adolescents with autism spectrum disorder : the perspectives of adolescents, parents and professionals

    Författare :Susann Arnell; Lars-Olov Lundqvist; Kajsa Jerlinder; Pauli Rintala; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Autism spectrum disorder; adolescent; child; physical activity; physical education; participation; socio-ecological model;

    Sammanfattning : Findings from previous research show generally lower levels of physical activity (PA) among adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The reasons for the low PA participation are complex and depend on several factors, often described as barriers to PA. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Physical activity, muscle mass and physical function in older adults

    Författare :Jort Veen; Fawzi Kadi; Andreas Nilsson; Peter Edholm; Anna-Karin Welmer; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Ageing is accompanied by a decline in physical function, including loss of muscle mass and muscle strength, which leads to impaired ability to perform activities of daily living and loss of independence. Physical activity (PA) is currently viewed as a key lifestyle factor with potential to mitigate these age-related deteriorations. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Green neighbourhood environments - Implications for health promotion, physical activity and well-being

    Författare :Hanna Weimann; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :Green space; Health; Public Health; Epidemiology; Qualitative Research;

    Sammanfattning : The proportion of people living in densely built up areas is gradually increasing,forcing cities to generate new land to build homes upon. In this process there is a risk for an inexplicit decrease of green space. LÄS MER
