  1. 21. Small remnant habitats : Important structures in fragmented landscapes

    Författare :Jessica Lindgren; Sara Cousins; Regina Lindborg; Adam Kimberley; Ove Eriksson; Hans Henrik Bruun; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alpha-diversity; Beta-diversity; Biological pest control; Canopy cover; Connectivity; Ecosystem function; Fleshy fruits; Forest edge; Forest management; Forest specialist species; Fragmentation; Functional diversity; Gamma-diversity; Grassland specialist species; Green infrastructure; Habitat amount hypothesis; Island biogeography; Midfield islets; Plant diversity; Plant-pollinator interaction; Pollination; Remnant habitat; Seed predation; Small habitats; Species richness; Structural heterogeneity; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The world-wide intensification of agriculture has led to a decline in species richness due to land use change, isolation, and fragmentation of natural and semi-natural habitats in agricultural and forestry landscapes. As a consequence, there is a current landscape management focus on the importance of green infrastructure to mitigate biodiversity decline and preserve ecosystem functions e. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Permafrost carbon in a changing Arctic : On periglacial landscape dynamics, organic matter characteristics, and the stability of a globally significant carbon pool

    Författare :Niels Weiss; Peter Kuhry; Duane Froese; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Permafrost; Carbon; Climate; Arctic; Soil; Organic Matter; Cryosphere; Geomorphology; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Organic matter (OM) in arctic permafrost ground contains about twice as much carbon (C) as is currently present in the atmosphere. Climate change is particularly strong in the Arctic, and could cause a considerable part of the OM in permafrost to thaw out, decompose, and be released as greenhouse gases; further enhancing global warming. 3. 23. Spatial variation of dissolved organic carbon along streams in Swedish boreal catchments

    Författare :Johan Temnerud; Kevin Bishop; Bert Allard; Rolf Vogt; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical geography and sedimentology; spatial variation of stream water chemistry; Naturgeografi och sedimentologi; Physical geography; Naturgeografi; Enviromental Science; Miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Denna avhandling behandlar den småskaliga rumsliga variationen av löst organiskt kol (DOC, engelsk term: dissolved organic carbon), dess koncentration, masstransport och karaktär, i bäckar inom två barrskogsbeklädda avrinningsområden (delavrinningsområden 0,01-78 km²). Provtagningen gjordes uppströms och nedströms varje bäckförgrening under sommarbasflöde. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Paleoglaciology of Shaluli Shan, southeastern Tibetan Plateau

    Författare :Ping Fu; Arjen Stroeven; Lewis Owen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paleoglaciology; Tibetan Plateau; geomorphological mapping; cosmogenic nuclide; Last Glacial Maximum; glacial erosion; basal thermal regime; paleoglaciologi; Tibetanska platån; geomorfologisk kartering; kosmogena isotoper; senaste glaciala maximat; glacial erosion; subglacial temperatur; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Reconstructing the paleoglaciation of the Tibetan Plateau is critical to understanding linkages between regional climate changes and global climate changes. This work focuses on the paleoglaciology of the Shaluli Shan Mountain area in the southeastern Tibetan Plateau. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Snow particle size investigations using digital image analysis - implications for ground observations and remote sensing of snow

    Författare :Susanne Ingvander; Peter Peter Jansson; Matti Matti Leppäranta; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; snow; remote sensing; particle size; Antarctica; in-situ sampling; seasonal snow; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : During the past century climate warming has caused rapid changes in the Cryosphere. This has increased the need to accurately monitor rates of change in snow and ice in remote or sparsely populated areas where environmental observing capacity is limited. Monitoring snow cover requires understanding of the snow pack and the snow surface attributes. LÄS MER
