  1. 1. Young today-adult tomorrow! Studies on physical status, physical activity, attitudes, and self-perception in children and adolescents

    Författare :Ann-Christin Sollerhed; Samhällsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; physical education; physical status; physical capacity; self-perception; attitudes; sense of coherence; Medicine human and vertebrates ; intervention; physical activity; adolescents; Young people; children; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : The aim was to gain knowledge of young people's physical status and physical activity, and to further the understanding of the role of school physical education in a salutogenic public health perspective. Two studies were performed in southern Sweden. Study 1 was performed in 1996 among 301 adolescents aged 16-19 in upper secondary school. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Diatoms as indicators of Holocene climate and environmental change in northern Sweden

    Författare :Christian Bigler; Ingemar Renberg; Roland Hall; N. John Anderson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical geography and sedimentology; diatoms; Holocene; paleolimnology; climate change; lake sediments; transfer functions; quantitative environmental reconstructions; northern Sweden; Abisko; Naturgeografi och sedimentologi; Physical geography; Naturgeografi; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of the thesis was to explore the potential of diatoms (Bacillariophyceae) as indicators of Holocene climate and environmental change in northern Sweden (Abisko region, 68°21'N, 18°49'E). A modern surface-sediment calibration set including 100 lakes was developed and lake-water pH, sedimentary organic content (assessed by loss-on-ignition) and temperature were identified as most powerful environmental variables explaining the variance within the diatom assemblages. 3. 3. Physical characterization of engineered aerosol particles

    Författare :Linus Ludvigsson; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fysicumarkivet A:2017:Ludvigsson;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis will explore parts of the life of engineered nanoparticles, from generation in research environments andprocess monitoring, to emissions in an industrial setting. The aim is to give insights into how the particles can becharacterized in different settings and how different characterization methods can be applied depending on need ordemand. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Physical performance and physical activity in the later stage post-stroke

    Författare :Christiane Carvalho; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cerebrovascular accident; exercise test; gait; healthy control; muscle strength; physical activity; physical therapy; rehabilitation; secondary prevention; stroke; walking;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: The overall purpose of this thesis was to increase knowledge about physical performance and activity in the later stage post-stroke by measuring walking performance in different environments coupled to muscle strength, cardiorespiratory fitness evaluation and self-reported physical activity. Methods: The studies reported in the thesis included a total of 83 subjects with prior stroke living in the community and 144 clinically healthy subjects from the same area. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Synergistic interactions involving amphiphilic polymers in solution

    Författare :Maria Karlberg; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrophobic modification; cyclodextrin; rheology; emulsion stability; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; cellulose derivative; degradable surfactants; amylose;

    Sammanfattning : The properties of hydrophobically modified cellulose derivatives in aqueous mixtures with various other molecules have been investigated. Mixtures of a hydrophobically modified polymer and alkali-sensitive, degradable surfactants gave rise to time-dependent viscosities. LÄS MER
