16. Integral and local AC-susceptibility : instrumentation and applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents my mostly unpublished experimental work related to two major contributions with the design of: A high precision and versatile bulk average(or integral) AC-susceptometer and its application to investigations of exchange anisotropy in Co multilayers. A novel Local Susceptibility measurement technique exploiting the narrow gap in inductive ring-heads in magnetic recording technology. LÄS MER
17. Aspects of the ATLAS ITk Inner Tracker development for the high luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider
Sammanfattning : The High Luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC), necessitates that the ATLAS experiment replace their current Inner Detector (ID) system. The new Inner Tracker (ITk) will be an all silicon detector, utilising both pixel and strip sensors, with the aim of performing as well, or better than the current system - but in a much more challenging environment. 18. Instrumentation development for physics with antiproton beams
Sammanfattning : This thesis summarises work done in the preparation for the PANDA (antiproton ANnihilations at DArmstadt) experiment, that will be built at the HESR (High Energy Storage Ring) at FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) and for the PAX (Polarised Antiproton eXperiment) experiment proposed for the HESR.For PANDA, characteristics of the electromagnetic calorimeter have been measured at the tagged photon beam facility at the MAX IV laboratory for 61 photon energies in the range 12-63 MeV. 19. DESIREE: Instrumentation Developments and Hot Metal Cluster Decays
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents instrumentation developments and measurements performed at the Double ElectroStatic Ion Ring ExpEriment, DESIREE, at Stockholm University. DESIREE operates at cryogenic temperatures ~13 K, with very low background pressures of ~10-14mbar, allowing the observation of stored ions to long times of tens of seconds and longer. LÄS MER
20. Methods, Instrumentation and Mechanisms for Optical Characterization of Tissue and Treatment of Malignant Tumours
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, different optical methods utilising visible light for characterization of tissue have been developed and evaluated. The feasibility of many of these methods has been demonstrated in the laboratory or in animal experiments. LÄS MER
