  1. 11. Student-environment fit for students with physical disabilities

    Författare :Helena Hemmingsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; sektionen för arbetsterapi Institutionen Neurotec Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Schools; environment; disabled children; adolescents; participation; Schools; environment; disabled children; adolescents; participation.;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the research presented here was to identify and explore aspects of the school environment that influence the participation of students with physical disabilities. The first study examined the reliability and validity of the School Setting Interview (SSI), which is a new assessment still under development. LÄS MER

  2. 12. More Water, Less Grass? : An assessment of resource degradation and stakeholders’ perceptions of environmental change in Ombuga Grassland, Northern Namibia

    Författare :Patrik Klintenberg; Carl Christiansson; Wolter Arnberg; Peter Schlyter; Stein W. Bie; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : The objectives of this thesis are to assess: to what degree have natural resources deteriorated in a grazing area in northern Namibia, how do perceptions of environmental change held by local stakeholders there, correspond to scientific assessments, and how do these relate to national estimates? Analysis of the process of developing national indicators for monitoring of land degradation concluded that specific indicators should be developed on national level, and in some instances even on local level as there are no universal causes of land degradation. According to farmers overgrazing and low rainfall since the early 1990s cause negative environmental changes in the study area, partly confirming findings from national monitoring. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Modeling DNA Damage

    Författare :Patric Schyman; Aatto Laaksonen; Sason Shaik; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DNA; Ionizing radiation; DNA radicals; Strand break; Hydrogen abstraction; Density Functional Theory; Car-Parrinello Molecular Dynamics; QM MM; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis methods of computational chemistry have been used to examine DNA damaging processes initiated by ionizing radiation, free radicals, or Low-Energy Electrons (LEE). The computational chemistry method based on quantum mechanics that has been mainly used here is the Density Functional Theory (DFT). LÄS MER

  4. 14. Photophysics of Perovskite Nano- and Microcrystals

    Författare :Junsheng Chen; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []

    Sammanfattning : The demand and consumption of energy is increasing dramatically all around the world. Broad adoption of fossil fuels has triggered an enormous threat to the environment. To ensure sustainability of our species and habitat, new solutions to fulfill the energy demand have to be found. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Lake sediments around the Antarctic Peninsula : archives of climatic and environmental changes

    Författare :Rolf Zale; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lake sediments; Antarctic Peninsula; radiocarbon dating; climatic and environmental changes; sediment chemistry; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Lakes and lake sediments from four areas around the Antarctic Peninsula are described.The concentrations of trace metals in sediment are found to be a useful tool in distinguishing between the different sedimentary phases during a transition from marine to limnic environment.
