16. Extending Photoinduced Charge Separation. Molecular-semiconductor assemblies for solar energy conversion
Sammanfattning : The conversion of solar energy into chemical energy by harvesting visible-light with synthetic molecules presents several scientific and technological challenges. This thesis is dedicated to the investigation of approaches to long-lived charge separation, one of the crucial aspects for the photochemical generation of solar fuels. LÄS MER
17. Studies of Charge Separation in Molecular and Molecular-Inorganic Materials Assemblies for Solar Energy Conversion
Sammanfattning : Conversion of solar energy and its storage in the form of chemical bonds is a current scientific and technological challenge. Different approaches to achieve light-harvesting followed by efficient charge separation are the focus on this thesis. LÄS MER
18. Singlet Fission - The Effects of Solvent Polarity and Conformation
Sammanfattning : Singlet fission (SF) is a process in which one initial high energy singlet excited state is converted into two triplet excited states of roughly half the energy of the initial state. This process has the potential to increase the efficiency of conventional solar cells by modifying the energy of the incident solar radiation to better match the energy input required to generate electricity. 19. Tuning electron transfer reactions by selective excitation in porphyrin-acceptor assemblies
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns electron transfer reactions from different excited states in porphyrins, and the effect of changing the energy of the link connecting the donor and acceptor. Photoinduced electron transfer, and subsequent processes were studied using ultrashort laser pulses and nanosecond laser flash photolysis. LÄS MER
20. Ruthenium complexes and substituted polypyridines in photophysical and electron transfer studies
Sammanfattning : Organic molecules acting as electron acceptors and ligandsfor metal complexes were synthesized. N-alkylation of4,4'-bipyridine and nicotinamide yielded electron transport andacceptor molecules. By regioselective functionalization of2,2'-bipyridine (bpy), several novel ligand molecules wereobtained. LÄS MER
