1. Quantum photoelectrochemistry : Theoretical studies of organic adsorbates on metal oxides surfaces
Sammanfattning : Interactions between organic molecules and transition metal oxide surfaces have been investigated by means of quantum chemical calculations. The studies have been aimed at understanding electrode-adsorbate interactions in photoelectrochemical devices, such as dye-sensitized solar cells. LÄS MER
2. In Search of the Holy Grail of Photoelectrochemistry : A Study of Thin Film Electrodes for Solar Hydrogen Generation
Sammanfattning : Hydrogen is a wanted energy carrier in a future society less dependent of fossil fuels. This thesis investigates the possibilities of using solar energy to convert water into hydrogen and oxygen, so called artificial photosynthesis. LÄS MER
3. Charge Transport Properties in Nanostructured Electrodes of Metal Oxides
Sammanfattning : In the last decade research in the field of nanostructured metal oxide thin film electrodes for various applications, e.g., solar cells and hydrogen production, has been of great interest. In this thesis, interfacial and bulk electrochemical properties and charge transport properties of nanostructured thin films have been investigated. LÄS MER
4. Artificial Water Splitting: Ruthenium Complexes for Water Oxidation
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the development and study of Ru-based water oxidation catalysts (WOCs) which are the essential components for solar energy conversion to fuels. The first chapter gives a general introduction about the field of homogenous water oxidation catalysis, including the catalytic mechanisms and the catalytic activities of some selected WOCs as well as the concerns of catalyst design. 5. Nanostructured ZnO electrodes for solar cell applications
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the possibilities of using nanostructured dye-sensitized ZnO electrodes for solar energy conversion in photoelectrochemical solar cells are investigated. In order to characterize the photoelectrochemical properties of unsensitized ZnO films, measurements were performed using a short laser pulse (laser flash induced current transients) and under continuous illumination (steady-state).
