  1. 11. Photo-induced molecular processes and charge recombination reactions driven by non-adiabatic couplings

    Författare :Michael Stenrup; Åsa Larson; Horst Köppel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Non-adiabatic processes; Photophysics; Photochemistry; Radiationless deactivation; Conical intersections; Five-membered aromatic heterocyclic compounds; Mutual neutralization; Dissociative recombination; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on a number of theoretical studies of molecular processes in which non-adiabatic effects play a crucial role. The main part is devoted to the photophysics and photochemistry of five-membered aromatic heterocyclic compounds, with particular focus on furan and thiophene. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Structure-Function Relationships in RuII Complexes with Unconventional Ligands: Photophysical and Photochemical Studies

    Författare :Joachim Wallenstein; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; structure-function relationship; spectral component analysis; photochemistry; RuII complexes; photoreaction; hole-transfer;

    Sammanfattning : The rich photophysics, photochemistry and electrochemistry of RuII complexes have attracted intense research interest in widely disparate fields. A large portion of the studied and applied complexes are derived from the archetypical [Ru(bpy)3]2+ (bpy is 2,2’-bipyridine), which absorbs in the visible region, displays a long lived (~1 μs), emissive metal-to-ligand charge transfer state, and shows reversible electrochemistry in both the ground and excited state. 3. 13. Quantum Chemical Studies of Protein-Bound Chromophores, UV-Light Induced DNA Damages, and Lignin Formation

    Författare :Bo Durbeej; Leif Eriksson; Tim Clark; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum chemistry; quantum chemistry; calculations; density functional theory; excited states; photochemistry; chromophores; absorption spectra; bathochromic shift; isomerization; UV radiation; DNA damages; cycloaddition reactions; photoenzymic repair; electron transfer; lignin; polymerization; phenoxy radicals; dilignols; Kvantkemi; Quantum chemistry; Kvantkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Quantum chemical methods have been used to provide a better understanding of the photochemistry of astaxanthin and phytochromobilin; the photoenzymic repair of UV-light induced DNA damages; and the formation of lignin. The carotenoid astaxanthin (AXT) is responsible for the colouration of lobster shell. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Biosensor surface chemistry for oriented protein immobilization and biochip patterning

    Författare :Emma Ericsson; Karin Enander; Sofia Svedhem; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biochip; biosensor; hydrogel; ligand; orientation; patterning; photochemistry; protein immobilization; surface chemistry; self-assembled monolayer; SAM;

    Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis is focused on two methods for protein immobilization to biosensor surfaces for future applications in protein microarray formats. The common denominator is a surface chemistry based on a gold substrate with a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of functionalized alkanethiolates. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Photochemical reactions of lignin: Opportunities for valorisation

    Författare :Alexander Michael Riddell; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biomass; NMR; Lignin; Photolysis; Photochemistry; Kraft;

    Sammanfattning : Lignin is the second most abundant biopolymer after cellulose and is the largest bio-based source of aromatic compounds. However, its heterogeneous and recalcitrant structure makes it difficult to depolymerise for use in renewable chemicals production. LÄS MER
