  1. 21. The Small Cab-like Proteins in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

    Författare :Miguel Angel Hernández-Prieto; Christiane Funk; Conrad Mullineaux; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photosynthesis; Photosystem II; chlorophyll-binding proteins; tetrapyrrole biosynthesis; photodamage; non-photochemical quenching; SCPs; LHCII; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The Small Cab-like Proteins (SCPs) in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 accumulate in cells grown under different stress conditions. Genes coding for SCPs have been found in all sequenced organisms performing oxygenic photosynthesis and even in the genomes of cyanophages. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Determination of Volatile Hydrocarbons in Urban Air

    Författare :Lars Löfgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; arenes; hydrocarbons; environment; alkenes; motor traffic; photochemical oxidant formation;

    Sammanfattning : In the complex hydrocarbon mixture in urban air, the alkenes and arenes are of particular interest with respect to impact on health and environment. Knowledge of hydrocarbon concentrations in urban air is essential for the assessment and prevention of health hazards and photochemical oxidant formation. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Investigating the molecular mechanism of photoprotection, qH, in Arabidopsis thaliana

    Författare :Pierrick Bru; Alizée Malnoë; Stefano Caffarri; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photosynthesis; Photoprotection; non photochemical quenching; qH; genetic screen; genome editing; biology; biologi; Biochemistry; biokemi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Photoprotection mechanisms in plants play a crucial role in maintaining photosystem integrity and preventing photooxidative damage. In this study, we aimed to identify new molecular players involved in the qH process, a sustained photoprotective mechanism. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Beyond carbon-limitation : A re-evaluation of the ecological role of photorespiration and direct oxygen photoreduction in seagrasses

    Författare :Pimchanok Buapet; Mats Björk; Ilana Berman-Frank; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbon limitation; Chlorophyll fluorescence; Electron transport rate; Irradiance; Mehler reaction; Non-photochemical quenching; Photorespiration; Photosynthetic activity; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Seagrasses living in shallow coastal waters are regularly subjected to changes in environmental conditions including the two essential factors for photosynthesis: dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) and irradiance. This thesis focuses on the photosynthetic responses of seagrasses to carbon limitation induced by community metabolism and/or high light intensities. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Photoinduced Processes in Molecular-Inorganic Materials - Design Strategies for Control of Photophysical and Photochemical Processes

    Författare :Elin Sundin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photochemistry; hybrid materials; solar energy conversion; charge separation; electron transfer; singlet fission; dye-sensitized semiconductors; mechanistic studies;

    Sammanfattning : Sunlight is the most abundant renewable energy resource on Earth and has the potential to provide our society with clean energy. Despite this abundancy, solar energy corresponds to only a minority of the global energy production. Two major reasons for this are the limited efficiencies of solar cells and the difficulty of storing solar energy. LÄS MER
