  1. 1. Phospholipase A2 in nerve injury and axonal outgrowth

    Författare :Marie Hornfelt; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neurology; cell death; apoptosis; leukotrienes; arachidonic acid; M-type receptor; secretory phospholipase A2; cytosolic phospholipase A2; sciatic nerve; dorsal root ganglia; growth cone; axonal outgrowth; nerve injury; peripheral nerve regeneration; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with processes coupled to injury in the peripheral nervous system (PNS), with a general aim to investigate the role of phospholipase A2 (PLA2) enzymes in axonal outgrowth. The axonal outgrowth of dorsal root ganglia (DRG) neurons in vitro was reduced by several different inhibitors of PLA2 activity and enhanced by an activator of this enzyme. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Signalling to Activation of Cytosolic Phospholipase A2 and Arachidonate Release in Macrophages

    Författare :Gösta Hiller; Infektionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; signal transduction; dexamethasone; macrophages; phospholipase C; phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase; mitogen-activated protein kinases; cytosolic phospholipase A2; arachidonic acid; Histology; cytochemistry; histokemi; cytokemi; tissue culture; Histologi; vävnadskultur; histochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Eicosanoids include prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, which are arachidonic acid oxygenation products. These lipids make important contributions to the signs and symptoms of inflammatory diseases. LÄS MER

  3. 3. OX1 Orexin Receptor Signalling to Phospholipases

    Författare :Marie Ekholm; Jyrki Kukkonen; Graeme Milligan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :orexin; phospholipase; Calcium; cell signalling; G protein coupled receptor; ERK; live-cell imaging; arachidonic acid; diacylglycerol;

    Sammanfattning : The neuropeptides orexin-A and orexin-B were discovered in 1998 and were first described as regulators of feeding behaviour. Later research has shown that they have an important role in the regulation of sleep. Two G protein-coupled receptors, OX1 and OX2 orexin receptors, mediate the cellular responses to orexins. 4. 4. Calcium and Phospholipases in Orexin Receptor Signaling

    Författare :Lisa Johansson; Jyrki Kukkonen; Karl Åkerman; Christopher S. Leonard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Physiology; orexin; receptor; calcium; phospholipase; cell signaling; GPCR; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The neuropeptides orexin-A and -B act as endogenous ligands for G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) called OX1 and OX2 receptors. Previous observations have established that orexin receptors have an ability to couple to different G-proteins and signaling pathways and induce Ca2+ elevations via both receptor-operated Ca2+ channels (ROCs) and store-operated Ca2+ channels (SOCs). 5. 5. Enzymatic Synthesis of Mixed Acid Phospholipids

    Författare :Dietlind Adlercreutz; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; lysophosphatidylcholine; phosphatidylcholine; acyl migration; equilibrium; organic solvent; lipase; phospholipase; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Mixed acid phospholipids are valuable compounds, which are used mainly in membrane- and lipoprotein research and in liposome technology. The chemical synthesis of these special lipids is rather difficult and involves both toxic chemicals and harsh reaction conditions, which makes the products less attractive for medical and biological applications.
