11. Phase transformation and stability studies of the Zr-H system
Sammanfattning : Zirconium alloys are widely used in the nuclear industry because of their high strength, good corrosion resistance and low neutron absorption cross-section. Zirconium has a strong affinity for hydrogen, however, and if hydrogen concentration builds up, the material will gradually degrade. LÄS MER
12. Ternary Block Copolymer - Water - "Oil" Systems: Effects of "Oil" Type and Block Size on Phase Behaviour and Structure
Sammanfattning : It has recently been established in our group that amphiphilic block copolymers consisting of a hydrophilic and a hydrophobic part can self-assemble in the presence of selective solvents (“water” and “oil”) into a variety of different solution and lyotropic liquid crystalline microstructures. The effects of the “oil” type, hydrophilic block size and hydrophobic block type on the phase behavior and microstructure of ternary isothermal copolymer - oil - water systems have been addressed in this thesis. 13. On the Extraction of Essential Oils by Supercritical Carbon Dioxide and its Influence on the Mesomorphic Phase Structures
Sammanfattning : A comparison of essential oils from leaves of Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehn. obtained by hydrodistillation (HD) and supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) extraction is presented. Selected major components of the oils showed a predominance of higher molecular weight components in the SC-CO2 extracts than in those obtained by HD. LÄS MER
14. Compulsive sexual behavior disorder: clinical characteristics and treatment with Naltrexone
Sammanfattning : Background: Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder (CSBD) is characterized by sexual preoccupation and loss of control of sexual behaviors causing distress, negative consequences, and impairment. Despite its high prevalence, the condition is understudied in terms of background factors and treatment. LÄS MER
15. Phase Segregation and Microstructural Changes in Starch - Protein Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the study of the phase behavior of starch ? protein systems in relation to their microstructure and mechanical properties. To study the complexity of this multicomponent system, the main components of starch (amylopectin and amylose) were studied separately in presence of a protein (ß-lactoglobulin or patatin). LÄS MER
