The unit was designed, dimensioned and built and two types of fuel were tested: a South African coal and a petroleum coke from Mexico.     Sammanfattning : Against the background of rising anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions, carbon capture andstorage (CCS) has been proposed as a means of mitigating climate change by storing CO2 capturedfrom large point sources in underground geological formations such as aquifers or depleted oilandgas fields. While first generation CCS technologies rely on active gas separation with anassociated energy penalty, chemical looping combustion (CLC) can avoid that step by utilizingsolid metal oxide particles to transfer oxygen from combustion air to fuel, making CO2 captureinherent to the process.
