  1. 1. Pressurized Fluid Extraction : A Sustainable Technique with Added Values

    Författare :Monica Waldebäck; Karin Markides; Åke Bergman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; ASE; biomass; green chemistry; household waste; lipid; pesticide; PFE; pressurized fluid extraction; sediment; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The challenge for the future was defined by the Brundtland Commission (1987) and by the Rio Declaration (1992), in which the fundamental principles for achieving a sustainable development were provided. Sustainable chemistry can be defined as the contribution of chemistry to the implementation of the Rio Declaration. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Development of Enhanced Analytical Methodology in Pesticide Chemistry

    Författare :Tuija Pihlström; Karin E Markides; Bengt-Göran Österdahl; Amadeo Rodríguez Fernández-Alba; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The analysis of pesticide residues in fruit, vegetables, rape seed and water has been improved using developments in sample handling and analytical techniques. The method development is associated with analytical difficulties, since pesticides currently used in agriculture represent a variety of chemical classes having very different physico chemical properties. 3. 3. Bioaugmentation for reduction of diffuse pesticide contamination : a bioprophylactic concept

    Författare :Karin Önneby; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Pesticides and their residues frequently contaminate surface waters and groundwater so consequently there is a great need to identify methods and practices that reduce such contamination. This thesis examined the potential of a 'bioprophylactic' concept based on the hypothesis that diffuse contamination after application in the field can be significantly reduced if pesticides are degraded as rapidly as possible after the intended effect has been achieved. 4. 4. Dermal exposure determinants : a pesticide exposure assessment approach for developing countries

    Författare :Luis E Blanco Romero; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dermal exposure; pesticides; determinants of dermal exposure to pesticides; subsistence farmers; fluorescent tracer; visual scoring system;

    Sammanfattning : Background: We know little about the levels of exposure to pesticide in subsistence farmers mainly because of lack of easy to use and low cost pesticide exposure assessment methods. Aim: This thesis aimed to develop a semi-quantitative approach to assess dermal exposure to pesticides relevant for conditions in developing countries. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Environmental Pesticide Exposure and Neurobehavioral Effects among Children of Nicaraguan Agricultural Workers

    Författare :Teresa Rodríguez; Catharina Wesseling; Ingvar Lundberg; Berna van Wendel de Joode; Ingvar Bergdahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :pesticides; organophosphates; pyrethroids; children; cognitive function; behavioral outcomes; neurodevelopment; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; Arbets- och miljömedicin; Epidemiologi; Epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Children exposed to pesticides are susceptible for neurodevelopmental disruption. Data from developing countries are scarce.Aim: Assessing long-term and recent pesticide exposure in Nicaraguan children in relation to parental pesticide use and examining potential associated neurobehavioral effects.
