  1. 11. Common variants in genes regulating free fatty acid metabolism and risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease

    Författare :Martin Carlsson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiovascular disease; free fatty acids; genetics; UCP1; beta3-adrenergic receptor; beta2-adrenergic receptor; type 2 diabetes mellitus; FABP2; stroke; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The present study evaluated genetic and metabolic factors influencing the risk for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD) with special reference to increased concentrations of free fatty acids (FFA) in 1174 Swedish diabetic and nondiabetic subjects. Common polymorphisms in the fatty acid binding protein 2 (FABP2), the B2-adrenergic receptor (B2-AR), the B3 -adrenergic receptor (B3-AR) and the uncoupling protein 1 (UCP-1) genes were related to anthropometric and metabolic variables. 2. 12. Human glycogen synthase genes. Role in insulin resistance and hypoglycaemia

    Författare :Marju Orho-Melander; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mutation; GYS2; GYS1; glycogen synthase; glycogen; insulin resistance; hypoglycaemia; liver glycogen synthase deficiency; glycogen storage disease type 0; Type 2 diabetes; metabolic syndrome; expression; chromosome 19; 19q13.3; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : Effective insulin-stimulated storage of excess glucose after a meal, and its rapid mobilisation in the fasting state provide basis of glucose homeostasis. Glycogen is the macromolecular storage form of glucose and glycogen synthase (GS) is the rate-limiting enzyme in glycogen synthesis. Skeletal muscle and liver are the major depots of glycogen. 3. 13. The Importance of CTLA-4 and HLA Class II for Type 1 Diabetes Immunology

    Författare :Carl-Oscar Jonson; Johnny Ludvigsson; Maria Faresjö; Dan Holmberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 Diabetes; Genetics; Diabetology; Diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) is a serious chronic disease that results from an autoimmune destruction of the insulin-producing beta cells. Sweden has the second highest incidence of T1D in the world, and it affects more and more children each year. Genes controlling key functions of the immune system regulation of autoimmunity has been associated to T1D. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Immunogenetics of Childhood Type 1 Diabetes in Immigrant Patients in Sweden. Migration Studies on Type 1 Diabetes

    Författare :Ahmed Delli; Celiaki och diabetes; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diabetes; Type 1 Diabetes; Childhood; Human Leukocyte Antigen HLA ; Islet autoantibodies; Zinc Transporter 8 ZnT8 ; Islet antigen IA2- ; Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase 65 GAD65; Insulin; Migration.;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examined whether the offspring of immigrants (non-Swedes) to Sweden are at increased risk of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) when they are born or live in Sweden. It also evaluated if their T1D and T2D-related genes differed from Swedish patients and whether this genetic heritage determined the types and existence of islet autoantibodies at time of diagnosis and affected the classification of diabetes. 5. 15. Personcentrerad IKT-tjänst för personer med typ 2-diabetes

    Författare :Cecilia Gardsten; Gunilla Albinsson; Stefan Sävenstedt; Högskolan Kristianstad; []

    Sammanfattning : Background: Diabetes is a chronic disease affecting more and more people and placing increasing demands on health care. The increasing numbers of adults diagnosed with type 2 diabetes are in need of self-management strategies. LÄS MER
