21. Drug Transport and Metabolism in Rat and Human Intestine
Sammanfattning : One of the aims of this thesis was to investigate the involvement of efflux proteins, such as the P-glycoprotein (Pgp), in the drug transport in different regions of the rat and the human intestine. The intestinal extrusion of intracellularly formed CYP3A4 metabolites, including whether this extrusion might be mediated by Pgp, was also studied. LÄS MER
22. The mechanisms controlling heat and mass transfer on frying of beefburgers
Sammanfattning : The aim of the present work was to gain better understanding of the mechanisms controlling heat and mass transfer during thermal processing of beefburgers. The effects of different factors such as the chemical composition and comminution of the meat raw material, the pan temperature and the meat patty diameter on the characteristics of heat and mass transfer were studied. 23. Vascular mechanisms in ovulation
Sammanfattning : Ovulation is a unique biological process, which involves the degradation and rupture of healthy tissue of the ovarian follicle and the extrusion of the oocyte. This process is initiated by the preovulatory surge of luteinizing hormone (LH), which leads to the up-regulation of various intraovarian mediators. LÄS MER
24. Influence of Composition and Pore Geometry on Immiscible Fluid Flow through Greensands: Development of Neutron Transmission Methods and Image Analysis
Sammanfattning : The effect of the mineralogical composition and pore geometry of sediments on the distribution as well as the flow of immiscible fluids are of importance when evaluating petroleum reservoirs. Greensand containing the clay mineral glauconite is a complex reservoir rock type. LÄS MER
25. Mathematical and Experimental Study on Filtration of Solid Inclusions from Molten Aluminium and Steel
Sammanfattning : Aluminum and steel have been the most produced metal and alloy, respectively, for many years. Their extensive use in various industries, their fundamental role in our everyday life, and their excellent recycling characteristics are the major driving forces for development of their production towards more sustainable processes.
