1. Cardiovascular risk factors and peripheral vascular function in lung transplant recipients
Sammanfattning : Objective: Cardiovascular disease is a major contributor to morbidity and mortality after organ transplantation. Development of cardiovascular risk factors, like hypertension, is common after transplantation. LÄS MER
2. Insulin resistance and cardiovascular function - Observational, translational and interventional studies
Sammanfattning : Background: Microvascular disease is now recognized as an important driver for cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. Diabetic patients are known to suffer from this condition, leading to e.g. coronary ischemia as well as kidney dysfunction. LÄS MER
3. Sleep disordered breathing and hemodynamic function
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the association between sleep disordered breathing (SDB) and hemodynamic function. A cross sectional study in a sleep laboratory cohort (n=1190) demonstrated a dose-response relationship between the severity of SDB, expressed as respiratory disturbance index (RDI), and office blood pressure, heart rate, and the risk of hypertension. 4. Repair and Reconstruction of Peripheral Nerve Injuries. Treatment with G-CSF and Stromal Vascular Fraction
Sammanfattning : While surgery is a cornerstone in treatment of peripheral nerve injuries, it is not a comprehensive approach, and outcome is unsatisfactory, especially sensory function. The present aim was to translate recent findings about stem- and progenitor cells to improve regenerative outcome, where the cells have to be autologous, available within the same surgical procedure, and minimally manipulated. 5. Effects of physical exercise on coronary and peripheral vascular function. An integrative physiological study from rat to man
Sammanfattning : Physical exercise is beneficial for the cardiovascular health. Numerous epidemiological studies reveal that physical activity reduces the risk of cardiovascular related death. Nevertheless, the underlying vessel wall specific physiological and molecular mechanisms still remain incompletely understood. LÄS MER
