  1. 1. Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and Perineal and Vaginal Tears in Primiparous Women

    Författare :Markus Jansson; Kerstin Nilsson; Karin Franzén; Gunilla Tegerstedt; Anna Marie Ellström Engh; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pelvic floor dysfunction; perineal tears; vaginal tears; postpartum; primiparous women;

    Sammanfattning : Pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD), including urinary incontinence, faecal incontinence (FI), and pelvic organ prolapse, is highly prevalent among parous women. There is evidence that pregnancy, vaginal delivery, and obstetric perineal tears increase the risk of pelvic floor dysfunction, but many of the studies in this field are retrospective. LÄS MER

  2. 2. ULTRASOUND STUDIES ON PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOLOGY AND OBSTETRIC PERINEAL TEARS

    Författare :Ann-Kristin Örnö; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; andrology; bladder neck descent; rectoanal inhibitory reflex; rectal sensation; Hirschsprung´s disease; Obstetrics; gynaecology; Valsalva manoeuvre; perineal tears; Pelvic floor; anal sphincter; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Sammanfattning : Repair of obstetric perineal tears is one of the most frequent procedures in surgical practice. Despite repair such tears may result in anal and urinary incontinence and prolapses of the pelvic floor, problems in need of surgical repair later in life. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Endosonography of the anal spincter in women with particular reference to obstetric sphincter tears

    Författare :Marianne Starck-Söndergaard; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; anal sphincter; childbirth; obstetric sphincter tears; Anal endosonography; endosonographic sphincter defects; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study the endosonographic morphology of the anal sphincter in women, to establish an endosonographic sphincter defect score and to relate it to anal incontinence and anal sphincter pressure. A further aim was to determine intra-observer and inter-observer agreement in detection of endosonographic anal sphincter defects. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Sphincter injuries and anal incontinence after vaginal delivery : a clinical and physiological study

    Författare :Jan Zetterström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Obstetric sphincter injury; anal sphincter defect; anal incontinence; perineal body; endoanal ultrasonography; anorectal manometry; pudendal nerve terminal motor latency;

    Sammanfattning : Objective: To investigate the frequency and degree of anal incontinence after vaginal delivery in primiparous women, to determine risk factors for obstetric sphincter tears and to evaluate outcome of primary repair, to evaluate perineal body measurement (PBM) in patients with obstetric sphincter injuries, to study anal sphincter morphology and function before and after delivery, and to evaluate primiparous women who had sustained a sphincter tear or developed anal incontinence after delivery. Methods: Questionnaires regarding anal incontinence before pregnancy, at five and nine months after delivery were used. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Sexual life after childbirth and aspects of midwives’ counselling at the postnatal check-up

    Författare :Ann Olsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Nonsutured; perineal lacerations; childbirth; sexual desire; postnatal visit; sexual life; midwifery care; counselling; focus group discussion; content analyse;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to explore and describe how sexual life after childbirth is communicated, addressed and reflected upon among new mothers, fathers and midwives and the impact of leaving first and minor second degree tears after childbirth unsutured. Specific aims were to compare two groups of women with minor lacerations (first and second degree) after a vaginal delivery, with respect to the healing process and experience when the lacerations were sutured or left to heal spontaneously (I); to elucidate women s experience of their sexual life after childbirth (II); to describe fathers' reflections about sexual life 3-6 months after the birth of their child (III); to describe midwives reflections on counselling women at their postnatal checkups, with a special focus on sexuality (IV).
